Part 11

Generational curses

John 3:17 NKJV

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Have you ever seen a family that

seems to be plagued by certain

sins or certain issues?

Exodus 20:4-6 NKJV “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Don't Confuse Punishment with

Iniquity.

Generational curse - the result of

ingrained behavior patterns that are passed from one generation to the

next.

Proverbs 26:2 NKJV

A curse without cause shall not alight.

A Family Tradition

The origin of a generational curse is always, always sin.

The Origin of Generational

Curses

It's important to understand the

different levels of sin, and through that

understanding you will begin to have clarity

concerning generational curses.

Isaiah 53:5, 10 NKJV

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities.... Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him...and make His soul an offering for sin.

Romans 3:23 NKJV - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Sin Is Missing the Mark.

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV - But He was wounded for our transgressions.

Transgression Is Going Too Far.

Isaiah 53:5 NKJV - He was bruised for our iniquities.

Iniquity Is the Inner Struggle.

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

1. Fully submit to God. James 4:7 NKJV -

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will

flee from you.

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

2. Claim the blood power over your life.

Hebrews 9:22 NKJV - Without shedding of blood there is no remission [of

sin].

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

3. Forgive your family Mark 11:25 NKJV - “And

whenever you stand praying, if you have

anything against anyone, forgive him, that your

Father in heaven may also forgive you your

trespasses.

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

4. Confess your sin and the sin that was present in the generations before you.

But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, with their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, ...then I will remember My covenant.

Leviticus 26:40, 42 NKJV

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

5. Use the powerful name of Jesus. John 14:13-14 NKJV - And

whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that

the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask

anything in My name, I will do it.

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

6. Break the curse by faith off those who will come after you.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who

love it will eat its fruit.

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

7. Commit yourself to changing your behavior.

Eight Steps to New Beginnings

8. Rejoice every day in knowing that God is faithful!

Deuteronomy 7:9 NKJV - “Therefore know that the Lord

your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and

mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and

keep His commandments.

I confess and acknowledge my sin, and the sin of those who have gone before me. Their bondage shall not be mine, nor shall it be the generations’ that will come after me. In the name of Jesus I break every generational curse off my family and me.

Prayer Breaking Generational Curses

Generational health problems, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, glaucoma, arthritis, ulcers, breathing problems, blood disorders, bone degeneration, all hereditary sickness is broken in Jesus’ name.

Eating disorders, overeating, anorexia, bulimia, or any type of eating that would destroy or harm our bodies is destroyed.

Alcoholism, addiction, and all sexual immorality is broken from my line.

Divorce, unforgiveness, depression, sorrow, gossip, worry, peer pressure, greed, bitterness, anger, temper, unworthiness, wounds, frustration, compromise, smoking, and poverty – I declare all these broken in the name of Jesus and by His shed blood. My family and I walk in freedom and power, liberated from every generational curse for the glory of God. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen!
