Devotions
It is easy to think that witnessing, baptizing, and
teaching belong to the church “professionals.” Jesus is
saying otherwise. We don’t have to be mystics or
theologians to do what the Spirit in us urges: witness,
baptize teach. We do this by letting the Spirit work
through us in our daily lives. Jesus himself makes this
work very concrete when he tells the disciples to teach
all nations “observe all that I have commanded you.”
Here the aphorism “actions speak louder than words”
would be so applicable. Our best witnessing, baptizing,
and teaching is through our own living. When we live
God’s commandment, others may be led to do the same.
When we are confident of God’s message, others may
be also.

Diocesan News Are You Being Called by God?
When He ascended to Heaven, Jesus was taken from the
apostles’ sight. He remains present to the Church, though, in
so many ways: in the Eucharist, in all the baptized, in the
Scriptures, and in the lives and ministry of priests, deacons

Christ’s presence through a Church-related vocation? If you
think so, call or write Father David Kelley, Diocesan Director
of Priestly and Religious Vocations (302-573-3113; voca-
tions@cdow.org). Be sure to visit our website:
