Faith Sharing 19h Sunday in Ordinary Time “Lord, save me.” Is the prayer Peter cried out when he tried to walk on water and began to sink. The changes that have impacted lives due to the Covid-19 virus may have given you the feeling of “sinking” or being over-your-head-in-water, so cry out that same, great prayer, “Lord, save me!”
Faith Formation Continues for Your Family by using
the “Celebrating Sunday for Catholic Families” 2019-20 book pages 106-107. The question in “Living the Word” is do you realize the depth of God’s love for you?” Registrations for 2020-2021 CCD Catechetical seasons are now being taken for in-class or At-Home/on-line options. Opportunities for every family to nurture and grow in the gift of Faith are encouraged and supported by our parish team of “disciples”.

August 9 – Saint Marianne Cope, died this day in 1918. She was born in Heppenheim, Ger-many, came to New York with her family , entered the Franciscan Sisters of Syracuse, and went to minister to the lepers in Kalaupapa, Hawaii for the remainder of her life. August 9, 2011 death anniversary of Father Roberto Busa, Jesuit priest who invented computer language. He is noted to have said, “Paradise is like the heart of God –immense”. August 11- Saint Clare of Assisi was a friend of Saint Francis who devoted her life to live a life of poverty for forty-two
years. Her example inspired her mother, sister, and other women to join her as the first “Poor Clares” in passionate love of God. August 13 – Saints Pontian and Hippolytus were two men who died for the faith after harsh treatment and exhaustion in the mines of Sardinia. One had been pope for five years, the other was an ant-ipope for 18 years. They died reconciled as friends of
Jesus. August 14 – Saint Maximilian Kolbe was a Franciscan priest who loved Mary and started the Knights of the Immaculata. He gave his life in Auschwitz to save a father of a family.
August 15 – Assumption of Mary, she was assumed body and soul to heavenly glory. A sign of hope for all the people of God. She is our parish patroness to honor each day.

The Presence of God After the miracle of Jesus walking on water, the dis-ciples exclaimed, “Truly, you are the Son of God” (Matthew 14:33). Most Christians will probably never experience such a dramatic miracle. Like Elijah, we await the manifestation of God in other moments. Perhaps the biggest challenge for the believer is to be constantly attuned to the possible presence of God in the everyday events of life. This is a stance that takes some people years to develop. Others seem to find the Lord easily in the simple things. As the week unfolds, let us look for the presence of God in the little things around us. Perhaps, like Elijah, we will be surprised at what we find. And, like the disciples, we can add our voice to the confession, “Truly you are the Son of God.” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
