We want our children to grow up with a sense of curiosity and a love for learning. And we can encourage them to find out who they are and what they are good at by moving away from a narrow focus on academics and reducing some of the stress associated with PSLE.
It is up to us adults to set the right tone for our children. Let us work together to help our children find their strengths and do their best, each in their own way.

Character and Citizenship Education in GMSP
…………..It’s more critical that
schools should develop their students
holistically and imbue the right ethos
and values to them, expose them to
diverse backgrounds to build
empathy and understanding and
make sure the students stay rooted in
the society…
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong
National Day Rally 2013
Every Student an Engaged Learner is
based on our core belief that every child
can learn - not just in school, but for the rest
of his life. As educators, we want to nurture
engaged learners who are motivated, enjoy
learning, and go on to fulfil their potential.
The most critical part, and a test of every
student an engaged learner, is how
committed a student is in developing the
values and character that will enable him
to succeed in life and contribute to
others.

Key Features of the New CCE Syllabus
Students will learn values through three overarching ideas, namely (Identity, Relationships and Choices
in six domains, starting with self and extending to the family, school, community, nation and the world.
The diagram below shows the 6 Core Values, the 3 Big Ideas and the 6 Expanding Domains in the CCE
syllabus:
The Big ideas, Identity, Relationships and Choices, are core concepts of the syllabus. They are
interconnected and impact one another. Students need to know who they are in order to relate positively
with others. Relationships they forge shape their identity and influence the choices they make. The ability
to make good choices impacts on their understanding of their own identity and the relationships they
form.
Guiding Principles for the Teaching and Learning of CCE
1) Every Teacher A CCE Teacher
2) Values are both taught and caught
3) Engaging Students through varied modes of
