Thoughts from Fr. Scott
Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany or the Three Kings as it is commonly known. This feast is often referred to as “little Christmas.” In fact, our Christian brothers and sisters from the East often celebrate this feast as we celebrate Christmas in the West. The true meaning of Christmas may be found in this particular feast day because it is the manifestation of Christ in the flesh; the making known of the Christ Child to the world. Obviously, we celebrate this day with great joy and wonder. It is a time for us to contemplate the true meaning of this grace-filled season. Wise men from a great distance came with eager anticipation to see something many people longed to see. This great gift is something we can readily seek and find in our daily lives during our Eucharistic celebrations. So, let us be grateful and awestruck at the great gift of God given to our world. Next, Sunday January 11th, our parish school will be hosting their annual open house. The open house will take place at 11:00 a.m. and run until 2:00 p.m. in our school building. We provide an excellent education preparing children for a future full of hope and promise.
Our school program provides children with a practical education for life, learning and Catholic spirituality. I strongly encourage you to make time, stop and visit our school next Sunday. It is a wonderful way to see how things operate and to meet the tremendous people involved in teaching and guiding our youth. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. In the coming weeks we will be sharing some updates about our Changing Lives Together Campaign. We will have information regarding our Church update/renovations and provide an update on where we stand with collections to reach our pledged goal. For the moment, I simply ask for your continued prayers and patience as we move along to make our parish something truly wonderful for the Lord. I wish everyone a blessed New Year. It seems very odd to be writing “2015 is upon us” but it is here none-the-less. Hopefully, our New Year will be a blessed one of great joy and our country will experience a great renewal of faith and joy in Christ. I am grateful to everyone who sent along a greeting or gift to me during Christmas. I am overwhelmed by your love, support and kindness. Thank you for thinking of me and keeping me in your prayers. I am ever so grateful to have this opportunity to be your Pastor and servant. Thank you once again for all the many gifts, cards and great wishes. God Bless and Happy New Year! Fr. Scott
Thought for the week: They sought Him from afar by the light of a mysterious star. We have a golden opportunity to seek Him daily, intimately and without reservation!

OLQM Endow All women are encouraged to join us this winter as we start a new study from Endow -- On the Christian Meaning of Human Suffering. All people wonder how to find consolation when things go wrong. In this study on Pope St. John Paul II’s 1984 apostolic letter he explores the various ways that we experience suffering; he reflects on its origins and examines our quest for its meaning. As one who has experienced his share of suffering he is the perfect guide into this confusing and troubling side of life. The Holy Father’s words shed light and show us how it is only in Christ that we can hope to find any meaning and purpose in our experience of suffering. It can actually be our path to holiness, for by uniting our suffering to Christ’s on the Cross, we can participate in the redemption of the world. This study is tinged with joy and hope and leaves the reader with a lighter heart and a peaceful sense of being cared for even in the most trying circumstances. Wednesday mornings, January 21st to April 22nd, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM in the OLQM School, Room 102. Cost: $25 ($19.95 plus $5.05 shipping) for the session. Facilitated by Amy Foret and Jeanette Quesada. Please email to Amy at amyandscottforet@hotmail.com if you have questions. To register, visit www.endowgroups.org. Select the "Join a Group" link, click on Michigan, and then click on the "On the Christian Meaning of Human Suffering" icon and select the OLQM study. Your materials will be shipped directly to you.
