2020-2021 STRING Orchestra Audition Information and Excerpts
Auditions will take place ONLINE using the Flipgrid platform. Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. Flipgrid is free to download and use. However, it is required that you sign-up and use your uwosh.edu email account to do so. For Flipgrid you may use a computer, tablet, or phone.
Directions:1. visit flipgrid.com/uwso2020auditions or flipgrid.com and enter our code “uwso2020auditions”
1.1. If prompted, our “Join Code” is 36550aa32. signup with your uwosh.edu email account.3. locate the “topic” “Submit your awesome auditions here”4. click “Record a Response” to begin recording your audition submission
Other:1. state your name and what you’ll be playing 2. there should be nothing else on the video audition beside your audition3. record indoors and with minimal background noise4. dress appropriately5. no audition may last longer than 10 minutes6. make sure the quality of audio and video is adequate for the purpose7. position the camera so that your arms and hands are visible

The first rehearsal is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2020 at 4:30 PM in Music Hall located in the Arts and Communication building. Music will be at the first rehearsal.

Freshmen, transfer students, and others who are new to the symphony: Perform a solo or etude of your choosing. Please note that time only allows for a few minutes of this work to be heard.

In addition, prepare one of the orchestral excerpts found below that is associated with your instrument. Prepare an excerpt that you did not prepare in a pervious year.
