Please “Shut the gate mate”
During the day our front gate Oak Street entrance is unlocked. We
welcome all visitors through this entrance to our front office where
they can sign in as a visitor. Can we also ask that the gate be closed
as visitors come through. Leaving the gate closed is a part of safety
for our students.
Cyber safety ‐ In this newsle er (page 4) is a capture of various
social media programs and the age in which children are meant to be
to use these. To have an account in such Apps or Website, children
have to enter a birthdate. Please be aware of what your child may be
using to communicate via a device and encourage them to be open
with you.
P&C Canteen at school
Our canteen will be running a dona on drive during the month of
September. More informa on is a ached in this newsle er detailing
how you may assist our P&C by dona ng an item or two. Every li le
bit counts and we ask you support this drive.

Last but not least… two major events in our school:

week?

Band ‐ There will be no band tomorrow, Wednesday 24/8 due to our
school performance.
‘Around the World’ - School Performance
Tickets are selling fast ‐ $5 each. Please note ckets are not available at the door.
Ma nee Performance: 24th August, 11.30am at Orana Heights PS. Evening Performance: 25th August, 6.30pm at Dubbo Senior College.
P&C will be holding a BBQ on Thursday night—Sausage Sandwiches ‐ $2, Drinks ‐ $2 each, Confec onary ‐ from $1. We realise you may not want to give up your place in the line so we will be selling from a mobile unit. You are also welcome to come to the BBQ area to purchase items. Our sauages are gluten free. Please note no ea ng in
the school hall. Thank you for suppor ng the P&C.

Debating On Friday 19th August 2016, The Orana Heights Debating Team had their final debate for the year. The topic of the debate was “That Zoos should be abolished”. Orana Heights were the affirmative side and the negative side was Eglingtion Public School. The Orana Heights Public School Team consisted of: First Speaker – Tamaryn Alchin-Wheeler, Second Speaker – Lachlan Donovan, Third Speaker – Lucinda Holmes, Fourth Speaker – Logan Windsor, Chairperson – Charlotte Bass, Timekeeper – Amie Thompson, Research – Maggie McTiernan, Macey Bringula and Julia Delos Reyes. Both teams had very strong arguments and rebuttal and the winning team was awarded to Eglinton Public School. Thank you to Mrs Lyn Campbell who was the adjudicator and to the parents of the team for a lovely morning tea.

CANTEEN DONATION DRIVE For the month of September we invite you to take part in our canteen dona on drive. The school canteen is run by the P & C and any profit made by the canteen is used to contribute to resources for our school. So the more dona ons we receive, the less the canteen has to buy and the more profit we make!
This year each year group has been allocated some items that would be suitable to donate.
Kindergarten : Jam (Raspberry or Strawberry), Low calorie jelly, Hand wash, Baking paper
Year 1 : Honey, Foil, Long‐life vanilla custard, Tinned tomatoes
Year 2 : Tinned beetroot, Milo, Rice crackers, Ziplock sandwich bags Year 3 : Tinned pineapple, Foam cups, Vegemite, Plas c forks
Year 4 : Paper lunch bags, Hot chocolate Powder, Pasta (penne or spiral), Bo les of tomato sauce

Posi ve Partnerships use evidence based materials and prac cal resources to help support these rela onships by facilita ng workshops for parents and carers.
