TOUR GUIDE

INTRODUCTIONThe term “operational amplifier” denotes a special type of amplifier of amplifier that, by proper selection of its externalcomponents, could be configured for a variety of operations.

HISTORY First developed by John R. Ragazzine in 1947In 1960 at FAIRCHILD SEMICONDUCTOR CORPORATION, Robert Widlor fabricated op-amp with the help of IC fabrication technology. In 1968 FAIRCHILD introduces the op-amp that was to become the industry standard.

WHAT IS OP-AMP 1) DC-coupled high gain amplifier

2) Output voltage is proportional to the difference of two input voltage

3) It performs arithmetic operation

ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES

ADVANTAGES

1) It has high reliability ,2) Small in size, 3) Cheap in cost,4) Low power consumption, 5) It can performs arithmetic

operation,6) It can be used as filter, oscillator etc.

DISADVANTAGES

1) Designed for lower power operation,

2) Shuts off when the load resistance is below a certain level etc.

CONCLUSION Op-Amps are often used for

Sensor amplification Mathematical operations (sums, difference, inverse) Filters (High/Low/Band pass) Measurement devices
