REINFORCEMENT

REINFORCEMENT is the use of consequences to strengthen a behavior.

REINFORCEMENT

Positive reinforcement is the process of strengthening behavior by presenting a desired stimulus after the behavior.

Negative reinforcement is the process of strengthening behavior by removing an aversive stimulus.

PUNISHMENT

Punishment is a process that weakens or suppresses behavior.

PUNISHMENT

Presentation punishment is the process of decreasing the chances that a behavior will occur again by presenting an aversive stimulus following the behavior.

Removal punishment is the process of decreasing the chances that a behavior will occur again by removing a pleasant stimulus.
