How did it start?

Open Hack Day

• Originally started internal to Yahoo

• Expanded by bringing developers to Yahoo! campus

• Expanded to Universities

• Expanded around the globe

• This is the 11th global Open Hack Day

• We just had Open Hack Days in NYC and then Taiwan

• Now we are in Southeast Asia with Indonesia being the first- Over 400+ registered!

• You are all breaking new ground since this is the first event of it’s kind in Indonesia!

Essence of Hack

• Learn about Yahoo!, the internet and about others

• Share – join teams, help people out and have fun!

• You can build anything you want – hence the Open theme

• You will be judged – is the app cool, is it useful, does it use the web?

• Keep in mind that simple hacks are useful

• Yahoo! engineers are around to help – for as long as they stay awake!

• Have to register your hack in the morning – don’t forget

• You will have 90 seconds to present your hack!

Post Hack

• We will be blogging about the event and linking to the hacks

• Winners will get prizes and lots of attention

• If your hack is popular think about hosting it on its own domain so we can easily point to it and for others to find it

• Yahoo! is big and growing but we are nothing without developers
