Abhimanyu wanted to do something exciting for his birthday party this year.

“Why don’t you have a costume party?”, his grandmother suggested.

“You can all dress up as wild animals!”, she said. Abhimanyu thought it was the perfect idea.

He gave out invitations to all his friends.

Manu ran home to tell his mother.“I want to be a dinosaur!”, he shouted.

“Baby, dinosaurs don’t live on the earth anymore”, said his mother.

“I know. But I still want to be a big, mean dinosaur with sharp teeth and a long tail.”, replied Manu.

Salma thought and thought about what she wanted to be. And finally –

“I want to be a tiger! So I can leap and jump and ROOOAAAR in the forest!”

Pradeep wanted to be a polar bear.“I’m one of the few animals that lives in the cold snow”, he said.

“Did you know that polar bears live only in the North Pole and penguins live in the South Pole?”, asked his father.

Arthi knew she wanted to be an octopus.“I live deep underwater”, she said.

Arthi knew she wanted to be an octopus.“I live deep underwater”, she said.

“With 8 long, sticky arms, I’ll be able to reach whatever I want!”

All of Abhimanyu’s friends were excited about the birthday party.

“I’m a bat! I come out only in the night!”

“I’m a bird!”

“I’m a rabbit!”

“And I’m a monkey, Ooo! Ooo! Ooo!”

And so were their parents!

The special day finally arrived.

“It’s my birthday! It’s my birthday!”, Abhimanyu shouted happily.

For his party, Abhimanyu was a lion – the King of the Jungle!

“Abhi, are you ready? Your friends will be coming soon”, said his mother.

“I’m a zebra!”

“I’m a bee. Bzz!!”

“I’m an owl.”

“I’m a bee. Bzz!!”

“I’m a blue whale, the biggest animal in the world!”

Everyone had a great time at the party and played lots of exciting games.

“We had a wonderful time!”

Finally it was time for everyone to go home. Abhimanyu thought it was the best birthday he’s ever had!

“Thanks, Abhi!”

“Good-bye!”

“Bye-bye!”
