November 2012 Realtors®Association of Citrus County Volume X , Issue 11

I sincerely hope everyone reading this has many, many, many reasons to be Thankful for Blessings this Thanksgiving!

I have often told friends of mine that I never knew I was poor growing up! With a family of 10 (8 girls and my Our school clothes were always clean and

ironed no matter how "thread bare" they became, so we never looked different or out of place. My dad learned to barter for some of our basic needs. The local doctor sometimes needed a hand or two on his small family farm, which in turn, gave us our physicals every year and some emergency care when needed. He fished and hunted to keep our freezer full. I grew up on venison, bear, turtle soup, fresh fish of all kinds and even rabbit and squirrel. But again, I thought Northerners all ate that way. Our needs were always met, and until I turned into a teenager, I had no clue I was missing out on anything much less POOR!

Today I look back and wish for those carefree days once more. Not for me, but for my grandchildren. With a never ending peer pressure, our children and grandchildren are on the "more is better" roller coaster. With the economy as it is today, I believe a simpler way of life, may be the greatest teaching gift for our children! As Realtors® we have been told over and over again the slogan KISS = Keep it Simple Stupid.......I can now tell you I try and do that in every facet of my life!

Keeping things simple not only for my family & friends, but especially for my clients gives me the ability to enjoy all the little things I could have missed in past years. If we worked together on a transaction these past years, you know how I try to work. I try not to make a mountain out of a mole hill. I do not like pushing experience or knowledge around like a school yard bully! It only makes life miserable for you and the other agent. Do everything to protect your client, your company, your association and yourself, but keep it simple....yep you have it KISS!!

This past year as President helped me understand time management, political correctness, and professionalism (on a new higher level). The importance of good mentors, great friends, a truly AMAZING staff and finally realizing "I really don't know everything" like I thought I did ----this made 2012 an experience I will never forget! I can honestly say, I have always, and will continue to be honored to have served as your President. I pray the changes in 2012 have helped your business improve and your life become richer in every way!

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank every Director, Committee Chair, Committee Member, Staff, all the Brokers and every Past President that paved the way for me. You all did amazing things this year! Our association is superior in every way!

money, but for also keeping us abreast of local and state wide decisions that impact our business. Of course there's ROCC with Becky Norman as chair raising money for the Relay for Life and helping to sponsor Family Resource Center for Christmas. Next I have to mention our Habitat for Humanity golf tournament. Every year we increase the amount of monies raised for this needed community program and this year is no different! With Debbie Scott as chair $11,000 + we have topped our goal again!

There were numerous Advisory groups. Barb Banks chaired getting our single-has Innovia making changes to input sheets and displays that are now and will in the future save us tons of time. MLS Board of Managers with chair Melissa Cridland spends hours and hours keeping us legal and prevalent. Technology's chair Cheryl Lambert keeping us moving forward today and looking for what we need to stay up to date for tomorrow. Our by-laws committee that brought us up-to-date, made appropriate changes where needed, and got us back on track. Bob Davis and Rob Tessmer Sr and committee...thank you!

I am sure I may have missed someone, if so, please forgive me. Every one of the team is an important part of this association! Please become an active volunteer in 2013 if nothing else attend the monthly membership meetings and network ....you won't regret it.

Have a wonderful and memory filled Thanksgiving!

Respectfully Your President,

Sarah Spencer
