Reading: Thank you to all of the parents who take the

time to check that your child is reading each

evening! Students are responsible for filling out

reading logs each day and evening. Everyone had a

chance to pick out a brand new book last week, thanks

to the Reading Is Fundamental program.

Math: This week we begin Topic 7 on Reading and Interpreting Graphs. The students will be learning

how to read graphs, and will be gathering data and

creating their own graphs.Writing: This week we begin a unit on informational writing. Students will use information they have learned from their nonfiction books to help them write to teach others.I was very happy with the growth students showed on their persuasive writing final assignment.IPads: The 3rd graders have been using a fun app called Seesaw. I have included, in the Wednesday folder, directions for viewing your child’s work on this app.

Notes from Room 102We have learned so much from our “Agriculture in the Classroom guest! Yesterday she taught the students where wool comes from and how it is transformed into cloth. Students had a chance to make a weaving of their own!

3rd graders were so excited to see the successful landing of the NASA rover, InSight, last

week after traveling for 6 months and 300 million miles! We have learned why Mars is considered “the red planet,”

and why some scientists believe there may have once

been water on Mars!
