Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago: TIG Grantee, currently using Legal Server CMS.
Pro Bono Net: Non-profit administrator of LawHelp Interactive server.
PS Technologies, Inc: Creator and vendor of Legal Server CMS.
Illinois Legal Aid Online: Automated Documents provider for Legal Aid attorneys in Illinois, contracted to manage project.
Legal Aid attorneys now enter client and case information into Case Management Systems (CMSs) for efficient case management and reporting.
Attorneys can efficiently draft pleadings and forms using automated documents on LawHelp Interactive (LHI), and serve more clients.
For any case, up to 40% of the information that is needed to complete documents on LHI is already contained in the CMS.
Currently, attorney must enter this information twice– once in the CMS, once on LHI—which is inefficient.
Functional improvements to LHI:• XML output of template information• Ability to accept XML input of HotDocs answer
files, user authentication Functional improvements to Legal Server:
• Ability to read XML input of template information• XML output of HotDocs answer files
Standards and documentation for Document Assembly Nationwide:• Standard Variable list• Documentation of how system was developed,
how other agencies can replicate project and use the system
1. Fill out case information in Legal Server
2. From within Legal Server, chose an Automated Document on LHI.
3. LHI uses info from Legal Server to “pre-fill” many fields in the automated document, you fill out the rest in HotDocs.
4. Download finished documentsto your machine - where you cansave and print them
