Date: January 1, 2013 Subj: NYNM Indoctrination Course Attachments: 1. NYNM Indoctrination Course Training Objectives Matrix 2. NYNM Indoctrination Course (Modules 1-5) 3. NYNM Indoctrination Course Listing of Acronyms and Definitions Discussion: Attached are the modules of the New York Naval Militia Indoctrination Course, which have been prepared for newly acquired NYNM personnel with Individual Training Plans (ITPs) developed for non-drilling Reservists. This course is intended to be part of your ITP for your NYNM billet. The purpose of this course is to provide an initial understanding of the history, form, and function of the New York Naval Militia to newly accessed members. This will include the terms commonly used throughout the Militia as well as the organizational relationships that are seen on a daily basis as the NYNM performs its duties in both normal and emergency conditions. The primary focus is to accelerate the “learning curve” so that new members can be of immediate use to Directorate teams from the very first day on scene. This course is organized into five modules, which are:
Module 1 - NYNM Laws Module 2 - TAG Policy Module 3 - JFHQ-NY (Structure and Function) Module 4 - NYNM Administration Module 5 - Miscellaneous Items (Uniforms, Awards, etc.)
Each module contains a series of slides, followed by a module exam. You will be expected to pass each of these modules before proceeding on to the next module. A Listing of Acronyms and Definitions has also been included to assist the learning process and consolidate many of the commonly used acronyms in one document. Please use this course as an initial building block of knowledge, to which you will expand through your work and experience in your assigned duties. If you have any feedback on this course, please return it directly to me for use in future updates and revisions. V/R, CAPT Larry Weill NYNM N7
