Ihave come to believe that it asan effective way for "ChittaShuddhi" - transliterated in English as purification of the mind.Practice of Reiki therefore clearsthe mind of impurity and makes, your life happy and blissful," AjitTelang, a well known Reiki Master observed during a talk withthis paper last week.

Telang, who is a spiritual practitioner of Reiki, became a fulltime devotee in 2002 and hassince been teaching this benefi;:cial science for resolution of con-

, signs of stress or fatigue. Out ofcuriosity Telang asked the causeof his friend's ever-joyful disposition and was told he was regu-larly practicing Reiki. _

Telang wanted to begin thelearning of Reiki, but it did nothappen. When yet anotherevent closely related to him occurred in the death of his 80-yearold aunt, who was suffering froman incurably painful disease, hisdecision was reinforced. Know-

ing the history of her ailment, heasked his relative whether herend was painful. The replystartled him as he was told thathis aunt had a perfectly peacefuland painless death. Telang real-_ized later that she was practicingReiki. He did not delay thereafter and began learning it.

As a person exposed to othereastern traditions of Yoga,Tantra, Ayurveda etc., Telangsaid that Reiki may well be called as "Chetna Tantra" or science ofpositive energy. The roots ofReiki could be traced to AtharvaVeda, one of the four Vedic

Samhitas sacred to Hindus andthe earliest work known to man.
