This catalog features new styles, designs and sizes, with the goal of providing readily available, high performance standard solutions for every milling application. The new RF ultra-high performance line makes its U.S. debut, while the TECH line takes machining speed and precision to a whole new level with the addition of two DIAMOND-TECH Series plus a variety of ultra-tough, ultra-hard Super-A coated tools. Capable of withstanding machining temperatures up to 1650 degrees Fahrenheit and featuring a nanohardness of 38 Gpa (compared to TiN coating at only �4 Gpa), Super-A coating is the top choice for machining ultra-hard materials (<40HRC) and for dry high speed machining applications. Not to be outdone, our PRO line also features a number of new Super-A coated series in various styles, lengths and sizes for improved performance.

This well-established TiAlN coating was developed at Guhring. By optimizing the structural, chemical and mechanical properties of the new Super-A® coating an extremely high hot hardness, very good oxidation resistance and excellent coating adhesion have been achieved. This coating is used exclusively on carbide cutting tools and is ideally suited for difficult to machine aerospace materials such as titanium alloys and Inconel, as well as machining hardened steel materials (>5� HRC) and HSC applications.

With this catalog, GUHRING is proud to introduce its new TECH and PRO lines of high performance carbide end mills. The TECH line is custom-engineered for superior productivity in specific workpiece materials and applications; whereas the PRO line delivers solid performance across the full range of materials and applications. All TECH and PRO end mills are made from GUHRING’s own in-house developed DK 400 N ultra-fine grain carbide, which features higher toughness than other ultra-fine grades. This higher toughness translates into longer tool life and greater productivity, particularly when handling the stress and shock of milling operations.
All TECH and PRO end mills are manufactured on powerful GUHRING custom-designed CNC universal grinding stations, which machine faster than the industry standard while holding tighter tolerances. The resulting cost savings and performance benefits flow through to GUHRING’s customers. Additionally, many of GUHRING’s TECH and PRO end mills are available with GUHRING’s special FIREX® multilayer hard coating consisting of ultra-thin, alternating layers of TiN and TiAlN combined to form a “super coating” that sets the industry standard for cutting tool performance enhancement. FIREX® features a hardness exceeding 90 HRC and regularly delivers two to three times the tool life of TiN alone.

A well-known Guhring Technology from the 1970‘s is now available in a new style in an ultra fine carbide grade. With this unique product, Guhring improves tool life and opens a new age of high performance milling. The RF 50 combines a new variable flute geometry, with an improved end tooth style and a new 3-D modeled flute profile. This unique flute form reduces vibration and chatter greatly, especially in Roughing operations and allows feed rates which are considerably higher compared to conventional Roughing or Finishing End Mills.

Alterations - Coatings
The majority of TECH and PRO end mills are available from stock with GUHRING’s special FIREX™ multilayer hard “super coating”, which features superior hardness, and wear- and shock-resistance compared to other common hard coatings.Many of these tools, plus all series specifically designed for use in aluminum and aluminum alloys, are also available bright finish. This allows customers the flexibility of exploring the respective performance benefits and cost effectiveness of other coatings.
GUHRING’s stable of hard coatings currently totals five, including our new super-hard, super-tough SuperA™ coating, as well as MolyGlide™ soft coating, which impregnates its lubricity right into the tool and can be applied to both bright and hard coated surfaces.
Utilizing the same high-precision, modern CNC grinding machines and advanced coating equipment as that used in GUHRING’s main manufacturing plants, the GUHRING Reconditioning Service restores used Standard and Special Tooling to its original factory quality, condition and performance.

The GISS 3000 induction shrinkfit system performs faster and more convenient clamping of both HSS and carbide tooling (up to 32 mm dia.) thanks to a design that incorporates shrinkfitting, cooling and extremely precise length adjustment into a single system.
