• What We Do:

• For active Advanced and Premier Partners, we provide up to 24 hours of gratis technical support per year. Additional hours are available on a time and materials basis through NCR Professional Services.

• Provide direct software development support to Retail application providers who are porting their apps, or developing new apps, for NCR Retail POS and Kiosk hardware. We can help you accelerate your development!

• Support is provided based on the Partner’s use of NCR’s supported O/S images and Retail Platform Software (RPSW or RPSL)

• We can help configure your Platform Software and Drivers to match your hardware configuration

• Limited assistance and documentation will also be provided for those Partners using direct write interfaces to NCR peripherals.

How to install systems

• The Operating System is normally ordered and pre-loaded at the factory. Contact ScanSource to make sure you order the correct unit feature.

• If a recovery image is required it can be ordered through normal product ordering processes assuming all licensing requirements have been fulfilled. Contact Scansource for any recovery image.

• RPSW software is available on the NCR web site. 4.x.x.x (and earlier versions) and their latest patches can be downloaded directly from the site.

• RPSW version 5.x.x.x must be requested using the e-mail contact on the site. The software will be sent to you using our mass transit facility. Any additional patches can be downloaded from the site.

How to install systemsPI VS Image X

• All non-PI images (image-x) require a NCR USB bootable media that can only be obtained by ordering the media from ScanSource.

• Partition Image operating systems require the PI boot cd (D370_0605_0100_1702 or later).

How to install systems

32 bit VS 64 bit

• For PI images (32 bit only):• Create the PI boot cd from the ISO.• Boot from it by selecting the CD-ROM at s/w boot (F8)• Insert the operating system DVD when prompted.

• For WIM Images (64 bit or 32 bit Windows7):• Boot from the USB device and select the proper Operating

System Image to deploy.

Windows RPSW Configuration

• Install RPSW by running the MSI installation program• If installing on a windows7 based Operating system you must

run the installer with Administrator privileges. Failure to do this will result in problems using the software.

• Install the latest patch using the instructions located on the web site. Patches must be installed from a command prompt with administrative privileges if running in any form of Windows7.

• If JavaPOS is required for your customer you must chose the manual install option when prompted during the install process and select JavaPOS.

• Getting the logs:• Set up the datacap logging levels that you want• Reboot the system• Get the problem to happen• Select the “Create Diagnostic file”• This will collect all of the datacap files and place them

in a .zip file in c:\programData\NCR\RSM\Diags on a windows7 operating system

• The file name will be in the format of RSM_” date (yyyymmdd)”_ “time of day (hhmmss)”.zip

Linux RPSL Configuration

• Obtain the Linux operating system image from ScanSource• Obtain the latest RPSL for your version of Linux operating

system from ScanSource• Current latest supported O.S. is SlePOS 11 sp3• The use of any other Linux operating version is not

supported

Linux RPSL Configuration

• To install the operating system• Boot from the PI boot dvd• Select menu item 1 from the boot menu• Insert the SlePOS image DVD when prompted• Insert the TermConfig dvd for the linux release you are

using when prompted. This software is used to help configure the NCR devices.

• Reboot the machine (log in as root with password of slepos11)

Linux RPSL Configuration

• To install RPSL• Get to a command prompt and type“startx”• Copy the RPSL.x.x.x. jar file onto the hard drive• Install the Java run time environment of your choice• Navigate to the directory that has the RPSL jar file• Type “java –jar RPSL.x.x.x.jave –console” and answer

the installation questions as prompted• Reboot the terminal

• To run the FtClientLE configuration • Log in as root• Type “startx”• Type “sh /usr/loca/NCRRetail/FitClientLE/FitCleintLE.sh”• After the utility comes up you can start configuring your

devices

the terminal• After the error is duplicated run:

“/usr/local/NCRRetail/scripts/PackLogs.sh”• This script will collect all of the datacap

files and place them in a .gz file in the root directory
