Achievements of 2014

Between January 2014 and January 2015, NZF has:

Distributed +£1m of Zakat in the UK (+£2m since inception) and

supported +1000 eligible individuals and families (+1,900

since inception)

Reviewed and authenticated its Zakat Distribution Policy with

AlKauthar Institute and Al-Qalam Shari’ah Panel

Launched the Date Palm Project

for ex-offenders

Opened the Manchester women’s

shelter for sisters in need

Won the Community Organisation

of the year, awarded by the Community Foundation

Teamed up with Lantern of Knowledge Educational Trust to provide grants for Zakat-eligible

students in Higher Education

Served as Zakat Education Partner for Al Rayan Bank (Islamic Bank of

Britain)

Delivered the World Islamic

Economic Forum's first session on the topic of Zakat

Hosted the first ever Rough Sleep organised by a Muslim charity in

the UK

Deprived our Chief Exec of hot

food/drink for a month in solidarity with the poor
