Cheryl M. Hamilton

Nouns are words that name people, places, things, and animals.

Some nouns name a special person, place, thing, or animal. These nouns are called proper nouns, and they begin with a capital letter.

People often have special titles that show respect for who they are or for the work they do.

When a person’s special title is written with their name, use a capital letter at the beginning of the special title. Let’s look at some special titles.
