Transcript of Mystical Totems by Mateo Arfanotti

The love for art in all its forms led him to choose a course of study that would allow him to know and experience personally and in different areas, without being influenced academic. From drawing to painting, from installations to set design and architecture and design: these are the challenges that Arfanotti accepted and that allowed him to develop a conscience and an artistic knowledge through a process of growth and individualization finding its own language, common all his artistic production. The love of art together with love for the technique make Arfanotti an artist in constant experimentation that designs and manufactures personally his works: the scenic backgrounds for plays at the information stand of the Salone del Mobile in Florence in 2005 composed a banner and a wooden counter designed, built and painted in person, through a Chariot of Carnival for the city of Sarzana in 2001 and finally his home-studio for which he took an active part in the work of creation.

Born in Sarzana (SP) in 1974, he graduated from the High School of his city, and in 2004 he graduated in Architecture at the University of Florence.

His true passion always remains painting in which succeeds masterfully to express emotions and anxieties through a language of magic, dreams and mystery that is expressed in primitive forms of the land of Luni. The stone statues of various shapes represented on stage by day and night in the last works of this painter, suffer a slow and gradual process of humanization and geometrization become totemic figures. The figures often appear dumb Arfanotti actually have the gift of communicating without words, to strengthen our sense of belonging to a past and a common future, without didactic formality. The message that the artist wants to communicate is so clear, simple yet very intense time: They Whatever our origins, our culture, religion we profess or the time in which we live, the link with our land and nature in whole remains indissoluble and the basis for all future.
