Once you print the pages of this journal,

you can arrange them in the order that you choose.

There are seven sections in this prayer journal.

Pick a day of the week for each section and

pray for the requests in that section on the

appointed day. (For example: Monday –

missionaries; Tuesday – Salvation and spiritual

needs; Wednesday – Family; Thursday –Friends, etc.)

Beforeyou pray:

• ConfessionPsalm 66:18 says, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” If you are keeping sin in your heart, and you have not confessed it to God, your prayers will do no good. I John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When you ask God to forgive you, he will! The first thing you should do when you pray is to make sure there is no sin in your heart that will keep God from being able to answer your prayers.

• AdorationWhen we praise God for who he is, that is adoration. We can adore God by singing to him or by speaking to him in prayer. “I will praise the name of God with a song…” (Psalm 69:30) “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise.” (Psalm 100:4) When we come before God, we should come to him with a heart of praise for who he is.

• ThanksgivingNot only should we praise God for who he is, but we should also thank him for what he has done. “Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” (Colossians 4:2)

• PetitionAlong with confession, adoration, and thanksgiving, prayer also includes bringing our requests before God.“Be careful [or anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6)

The majority of your daily prayer time will consist of bringing your petitions to God. But because adoration and thanksgiving are so important, there is one full day of each week set aside in this journal specifically to praise and thank God.

There are several things that you should do when you pray. Before you begin using this journal, take a few minutes to understand

these different aspects of prayer.

Daily RequestsThese are requests that you will pray for every single day. Some ideas for daily requests would be: Safety for you and your family; Strength to overcome temptation; Opportunities to spread the gospel; Your country and its leaders

Missionaries

We ought to pray more than just “God bless the missionaries.” The more specifically we pray, the

more specific answers to prayer we will see. Get to know the missionaries for whom you are praying and

find out some specific prayer requests that they have. Keep in touch so you will know when God has

answered that prayer for them.

Praise and Adoration

Praising and thanking God for who he is and what he has done is so important that I’ve set aside an entire section for doing just that.

You’ve probably recorded specific answers to prayer in the other sections of this journal, but there are lots of other ways that God blesses us that we haven’t necessarily prayed about. When you see something that God has done (for example: a time that he protected you, or gave you something you needed that you didn’t even pray about) record it in the praise section and thank him for that blessing.

We can also adore God for who he is. When you come across a scripture reference that tells you more about God, you can record it in the adoration section along with what you learned about God from it:
