Oh, That OLDEST

Valentine Note…

The first Valentine note date back to 1477 by Ms. Margery Brews to her fiancé

John Paston in February 1477 in England.

“Right reverent and worshipful and my right well-

beloved valentine, I recommend me unto you full

heartedly, desiring to hear of your welfare, which I

beseech Almighty God long for to preserve unto his

pleasure and your hearts desire. ..My heart me bids

evermore to love you truly over all earthly things”

Be your own Margery Brews.

Mumtaz Mahal

Prince Khurram and MumtazMahal married when they were children, in the 17th century! They had 14 children. She died of childbirth and he mourned for two years. After that and in her honor he built the TajMahal.

Jacob and Rachel

Jacob fell in love at first sight with Rachel and asked to marry her. Laban told Jacob that he could marry his daughter if he promised to work for him for 7 years. Instead he was obliged to marry Leah. However, Jacob did not give up. Jacob loved Rachel so deeply that he agreed to work another 7 years for her father. Wow…that is love!
