Let’s Dissect Theme 2

• Using the sorting chart and your Teacher’s

Guide, find the focus for weeks 1-4 of literacy

and math.

• Now let’s take the information that we’ve

learned from the sorting chart and transfer it.

into a graphic organizer to get a bigger picture

of what the theme is about.

What is a Frayer Model?

• Strategy that uses a graphic organizer for

vocabulary building.

• Requires that you (1) define the target

vocabulary or concept (2) apply this

information by generating examples and non-

examples.

• Promotes critical thinking and helps students to

identify and understand unfamiliar vocabulary.

vocabulary in the classroom? Let’s define
