honor Rhea, wife of Cronus and the mother of many deities of

Greek mythology.

History of Mother's Day: Julia Ward Howe

The idea of official annual celebration of Mothers day in US was first suggested by a activist, writer and poet - Julia

Ward Howe in 1872 on June 2.She wrote a passionate appeal to women and urged them to rise against war in her famous Mothers Day

Proclamation, written in Boston in 1870. She also initiated a Mothers' Peace Day observance on

the second Sunday in June in Boston and held the meeting for a number of years.

History of Mother's Day: Julia Ward Howe

When her mother died in 1905, she resolved to fulfill her mothers desire of having a mothers day especially young americans have that growing negligent attitude of adult

Americans towards their mothers. To begin with Anna, send her Mom's favorite flower

Carnations in the church service in Grafton, West Virginia to honor her mother.

And Anna felt that they symbolised a mothers pure love. She lobbied for the official declaration of Mothers Day

holiday.

President Woodrow WilsonProclaimed the 2nd Sunday in May as Mother's

Day - May 8, 1914He established the day as a time for "public expression of our love and reverence for the

mothers of our country." By then it had become customary to wear :

White carnations to honor departed mothersRed to honor the living mothers

Mother's Day @ USA Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis that the day

came into existence. Today the festival of Mothers day is celebrated across 46 countries (though on

different dates) and is a hugely popular affair. Millions of people across the globe take the day as an opportunity to honor their mothers, thank them for their efforts in giving them life, raising

them and being their constant support and well wisher.

Significance : Honors mothers and motherhood

Today is the celebration of Mother’s Day and whenever this topic will be discussed / preached, we have the tendency to become too sentimental

about motherhood because:for some, motherhood is an accident, and not

always a welcome one;for some, biological motherhood isn’t possible;

Significance : Honors mothers and motherhood

Today is the celebration of Mother’s Day and whenever this topic will be discussed / preached, we have the tendency to become too sentimental

about motherhood because:for some, mothers weren’t all that nice;

for some, motherhood under the very best of circumstances is still less than a bed of roses and a

primrose path.

Motherhoodis a constant

demand for the gift of love and

caring

Proverbs 31:1-31

Sayings of King Lemuel an inspired utterance his mother taught him

In scripture, the Church is often called “The Bride of Christ.”

The same qualities God considers noble in a wife are the qualities He would want to see in His beloved

Church.

1. God wants Husbands and Wives toenjoy a relationship infused with: trust, sharing of everything, transparent honesty, and the giving and receiving of good willthroughout all their days.

We harm the reputation of Jesus Christ every time we gossip and

complain.

2. She was Industrious.

Serving the Lord usually takes EXTRA effort.

Every one of us is called to be INDUSTRIOUS for the cause of

Christ.

3. She was inclusive.

4. She was influential.

5. She knew her identity.

Instead, Jesus often spoke inProverbs and Parables such asthe ones we’ve studied in thissermon series.

A Beautiful Woman

(Bride)

In Christ

Sometimes we as Christian women misunderstand God's concept of us,

becoming beautiful in Christ.

There is nothing wrong with working on our outward beauty in itself.

We are children of the King so why not look the part?

We should always do our best and look our best but many times we forget about the inside and the

way we project ourselves.

Sometimes we just concentrate only on one feature or area of our Christian life but not the whole and our beauty in Christ becomes skewed / distorted.

Being beautiful in Christ involves more than just the outside or just

one part of us.

"...a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.”

That is the beauty that transcends time and doesn't fade away.

One thing about beauty that we all know as women is that it is a daily

thing.

Now, I might be able to do it, but Ihave no desire to shame you intospending more time with Christ. Shameis never a good motivator … not in thelong run. When you read the Gospels, you find Jesus did not spend muchtime criticizing and shaming thecrowds that came to hear Him.Do not spend our time shaming andcriticizing each other.

Conclusion

And as we hear the Words of Jesus and

get to know Him, we can’t help but be

drawn to Him! When you see the beauty

of Jesus for yourself, you will naturally want

to be in His presence. You will look forward

with great enjoyment to every minute you

can spend in communion with Him. He is

the One who loved you long before you

ever noticed him He is the One who paid

the price for your sins long before you

knew you needed to be saved.

Today we’ve seen the picture of the

Noble Wife who is the pride and joy of

her husband. Like her we can be

pleasing to our heavenly Bridegroom as

we live a life of Integrity, Industry,

Inclusiveness, Godly Influence … and as

we find our full Identity in Jesus Christ.
