What is a FUZE Coding Workshop?
FUZE Workshops generally begin with a thirty minute assembly presentation.
This provides an introduction to three core coding concepts (LOOPs,
VARIABLES and IF THEN conditional statements), examples of coding
applications and a brief history of computing. It’s very interactive and gets the
children excited and enthused about their day ahead.
Sessions are lesson style with all students
following instructions on a whiteboard while
two tutors ensure every student reaches the
same level of attainment.
Depending on the year group the sessions cover
the three concepts introduced in the assembly to
varying degrees of complexity.
We recommend four one hour workshops. Two in the morning and two in
the afternoon. These can however be tailored as required.
Teaching content is in line with the new computing curriculum
Real text based coding (the final objective) is introduced from
the start. This is required at KS3 but with FUZE, this can easily
introduced from ages 7 and up.
FUZE is widely considered to be an ideal stepping stone between
visual tools like Scratch and Purple Mash etc. and more real
world languages like Python, C# and Java
FUZE enforces core concepts extant in all coding languages.
These are LOOPs, Variables and IF THEN ELSE statements.
After running hundreds of workshops FUZE has an incredible
track record of teaching children of all ages how to code
FUZE is free to download for Microsoft Windows and Raspberry
Pi devices. It will soon also be available on Nintendo Switch,
Android and other platforms. This means learning can be
continued away from school and it provides plenty of scope for
using in school.

The Priory Primary Academy Trust “From the very start of the FUZE 2 day sessions at our school the children and staff were buzzing and enthused about the prospect of learning about real coding; we were not disappointed! I was truly amazed at how much progress every child made. The sessions were brilliantly hands on, the children were seeing, doing and learning the whole time.. The workshops were so fantastic that we went on to book one of their holiday workshops in the October half term All in all, our time with the FUZE team and FUZE products has been fantastic. As a teacher I feel much more equipped to teach and develop the children’s coding skills and the children have already become successful coders. I would highly recommend other schools to look at FUZE as an excellent and accessible tool to teach coding to all – we loved it!” Debra Adams – Year 2 Teacher – Maths Subject Leader
