• I.T. Facilities– 800 desktops– All teaching staff have a laptop– Wi-Fi available in all buildings

Previous Practice• Academic Review days– Paper Based, Paper Chase....!– Before the day

• Tutor completed Subject review• Placed in Personal Tutors ‘pigeon hole’

– Often received in the morning of the Academic Review Day• Sorted by Personal Tutor into student order

– On the day• Student completed Personal Review Sheet (before interview)• Discussion between Personal Tutor and Student

– Often hurried, not all Subject Reviews available, no reflection by student.

• Paperwork filed in Student Academic Folder

Problems

• 2400 x 7 (avg) sheets = – 168,000+ Sheets of paper

• 2400 x 1 review Sheet x Photocopying = £120• Subject Reviews missing, miss filed or not

completed.• Personal Tutor Review carried out with little

(if any) knowledge of Subject review• Poor perception by Students and Staff

Benefits

• Significant Reduction in use of Paper• No Filing (Ever...!)• A Year Round Activity rather than ‘once a

term’ • Provides more time for discussion• ‘Property’ of the Learner not the Tutor• Reviews can be completed at any time, any

where (I.T. Permitting)

Negatives

• Equality of Access to I.T.

• Not easy to check if Review has been completed (report under development)
