immediate increased communication created and managed by ABID with the DCRA and owners of vacant properties to determine vacancy registration compliance and assistance needed to fill the space (possible creation of an attraction toolkit and one-on-ones), opportunities for temporary activation space for an intermediary time period (pop-ups, create event spaces, art installations, etc.), ABID will discuss partnering with DCRA and other public agencies the possibility of creating regulatory flexibility for pop-up uses through temporary permits/process, improvement of the appearance of the storefronts and beautification efforts. ABID to add to its website available storefronts and open office space, partner with community business technical training organizations; partnerships with local organizations to facilitate temporary art installations, partner with organizations to expand events to Anacostia for themed temporary installations, continue to support storefront improvement and beautification programs as a subset to encourage owners of vacant storefronts to be a cohesive part of the business community, assist and encourage owners with properties that are currently unusable to work with ABID on window dressing in partnership with private companies (sponsors), ABID development of graffiti reporting portal and tracking of clean team graffiti removal processes/timliness, pursue grant opportunities in order to aggressively address ABID beautification and place making efforts, ABID to create a marketing program that highlights attraction, retention and expansion(development) within the area with our public and private partners.
