For years the Coca-Cola Company has been known
worldwide. Millions of people associate this name with a
refreshing drink, and its taste is familiar to them since
childhood.
The history of Coca-Cola counts more than 120 years and
today it has resulted in more than 2800 drinks, produced
and sold in about 200 countries. Company owns 4 out of
5 the most popular beverage brands.
Globally, Coca-Cola is:
№1 by sales of juices, soda and juice-containing
beverages;
№ 2 on the market of performance drinks;
№ 3 in the bottled water industry.
CHALLENGE
The promotion implied attraction of maximum audience
by means of a video mechanics that was to enable an
opportunity to broadcast text (names) and graphic
(photos) content, entered by participants, in the promo
clip of the campaign. Aside from personalized video

generation, there should have been a way for user to easily
share it across social networks. Video mechanics was
planned to be a part of Coca-Cola promo in Kazakhstan.
Meantime, people of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were to
receive an opportunity to create personalized cans and
share them in social feeds the same way.
TASK
Technical requirements for the mechanics determined a
number of tasks to get accomplished. They included the
development of a universal platform for any video,
designed by an advertising agency in charge of the
promotion. Additionally, it should have been handy for
users of both countries and therefore resistant to high
loads. Generation of a personalized video demanded for
real-time moderation of the entered content (text and/or
photos).
SOLUTIONS
Prior diving into technical works, the collection of data
about the most distributed names in each country was
conducted. Government statistics agencies of both states
had provided lists carrying more than 1 thousand names

implement it for bigger audience coverage from
other CIS countries and related languages;
enhance its operation speed by 30%;
develop a mobile app of the platform.

development of its platform by means of Amazon
Web Services cloud;
creation of a rendering tool to introduce texts and
photos in the promotion video;
integration with social networks;
development and incorporation of a mobile version
of the platform.

Currently, the promotion is still live, but users’ involvement
remains high since the very start.
In Kazakhstan the number of generated cans exceeds the
number of created videos by 60%. Surprisingly, Kyrgyzstan
outranges Kazakhstan in the number of generated virtual
cans by 20%.
