KUWAIT: Kuwait Army Chief of Staff General MohammadKhaled AL-Khudher praised yesterday the strong relationsbetween Kuwait and Algeria, affirming keenness by the twosides to boost these close ties. The remarks were made duringa meeting between Khudher and Algerian Ambassador toKuwait Abdulhamid Abdwai yesterday, Kuwait’s Army MoralGuidance and Public Relations said in a statement. The twosides also delved into issues of common concern. —KUNA

KUWAIT: Kuwait Municipality has erected 14 temporaryslaughterhouses in all state governorates as part of itspreparations for the upcoming Eid Al-Adha. The municipali-ty is exerting all possible efforts to facilitate the slaughteringprocess and decrease pressure on the central slaughter-houses in the governorates by establishing temporaryslaughterhouses in the co-operative societies in the residen-tial areas, Deputy Director of Ahmadi and HawalliMunicipality Fahad Al-Otaibi said in a press release. —KUNA

Army hails ties

with Algeria

KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Ministry of Awqafand Islamic Affairs called yesterdayon all Hajj organizers to provide anelectronic-bracelets to all pilgrimsfor the upcoming Hajj season. Theministry ’s Undersecretary FaridAmmadi made the call, in a state-ment on the sideline of a Hajj RaisingAwareness campaign to membersand administrators, in cooperationwith the Ministry of Health.

Ammadi added that the goal ofproviding such bracelets was toensure safety of all pilgrims andmaintain contact with them at alltimes in case of emergency duringHajj rituals. The Undersecretaryadded that the electronic bracelet isbasically an electronic watch con-nected via satellite to determine thelocation of those wearing them, incase of rushing times during the Hajjseason.

Ammadi noted that Hajj organiz-ers are free to choose which type ofelectronic bracelets they provide totheir customers, however thebracelets must meet the ministry’sspecified technical requirements,Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) report-ed. The official said the ministry’sdecision matches the Saudi’s similarmove which imposed on all Hajjorganizers to abide by, and for thesame reasons mentioned previously.

Joint effortsMeanwhile, Ammadi expressed

appreciation for the joint effortsbetween the Awqaf and health min-istries, thanking the Ministry of

Health for organizing the campaign.“Touring the booths provides verygood information and tips, particu-larly for pilgrims, in preparation forthis ritual,” he said. “Such efforts areappreciated, as we witnessed all thedifferent activities from which pil-grims will gain knowledge on how toact and safeguard their health there.”

He also thanked the Central BloodBank which made it possible foremployees to donate blood. “Thisreflects the keenness of people inKuwait on giving, because the onewho donates blood is like the onewho donates money, and will berewarded by Almighty Allah,” he indi-cated.

Ammadi said that the number ofhajj organizing campaigns this yearis 48. He added that the number ofKuwaiti pilgrims this year is 6,400 asrequested by Saudi Arabia, as theexpansion work on the holy mosqueis still ongoing.
