The Baldota Group, having established its leadership in Iron Ore Mining, has dF~r~1fi~ai~to G~ldExploration inKarnataka. The Govt. of Karnataka has sanctioned 1233.05 Sq. Km. of area as Reconnaissance Permit (RP) in
Gadag S~hist-Belt to RMMPL, a unif of the Baldota Group. RMMPL has developed an exploration team under theleadership of Mr R.H.Sowcar, and Prof. R.R VII joen pf South Africa, osa consultant. The team has identified three
significant dde systems namely Central, Eastern and Western lode and 30 potential target areas classified as
hotspots, green field and blue-sky area, based on their ~otentialities. The detailedexplorationworkintheidentifiedtarget areas is in progress in the RParea, which has a number of old workings.

MSPL co-sponsored the Notional Seminar on “Scientific & Safe Mining — Emerging Challenges”,
held on 2nd & 3rd of July 2002, at Bangalore. The seminar was organized by the Mine SafetyAssociation Karnataka (MSAK) under the aegis of DGMS. About 350 delegates from all over Indiaparticipated in the two-day deliberations.
The topics of the seminar were: Adopting scientific mining by deploying
advanced techniques in exploration, drilling & blasting, excavation, andtransportation. Mr. Meda Venkataiah, General Manager (Mines), MSPL,

NEWS FROM GAS DIVISIONIl-QUARTER PERFORMANCEIn comparison to the second-quarter of the previous year, there was an increase of 2% in Production, 3.6%
increase in the Rate of Production (ROP) and 5.8% in plant on line time (POLT). Kudos to the Production team.The sales showed a growth of 2% in gas and 28% in liquid business.

Karnataka participating.
