Submission
• Strict requirements organized around a few, simple principles• Concise and clear – but actually plenty to read!
21
Windows Store Tips: Do not leave creating the store submission to the last day!
Windows Store Tips: You need a privacy policy in your store listing AND in your application
Windows Store Tips: Read the resolving certification errors BEFORE you start developing!
Windows Store Tips: Run the Windows App Certification Kit frequently and on a low spec computer
Maximise your exposure
• OEM featured apps are shown on the Store landing page
• Works for both free and paid apps• Requires no extra work on the developer side• How to take advantage of OEM promotion opportunities
1. Create a great Metro style experience
2. Make a deal with one or more OEMs
3. Submit your app to the Windows Store
4. OEMs will feature you app in their section of the Store (OEMs can offer different opportunities in different regions)
OEM promotion in the Windows Store
23
• OEM preinstalls are listed on the Start screen in an OEM group• The preinstalls contain both wide and square tiles and can vary
based on geography and market
• All preinstalls must be free in the Store for the OEM’s customerso Preinstalls are exclusive to OEMs by default
o Developers may choose to make the same free app available for both preinstall and all customers in the Windows Store
o Developers who wish to have a paid app in addition to their free preinstall must create a new app (with a new name and AppID)
• Your OEM partner(s) must nominate you as a “channel developer” (to the Windows Store)
OEMs can preinstall up to 24 Metro style apps
