Message from the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce
There’s something magical about a balloon launch - pilots and crews preparing to fly, wicker baskets, fire, hot air, bright colors and patterns, slowly ascending to decorate the summer sky.
The Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, hosted by the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce, celebrates 35 years of awe-inspiring magic and ballooning in this community.
Since the inaugural Michigan Challenge Balloonfest in 1985, this event has been an opportunity to showcase Howell. It has also brought our community together; a collaborative effort of community volunteers, businesses and organizations. For many families, this festival has become a summertime tradition; one that the chamber is proud to continue to provide through the support of our local community, as well as the thousands of guests who visit each year.
We are sincerely grateful to our many partners, which include Howell Public Schools and the City of Howell, along with numerous businesses and organizations that contribute to the success of the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest.
The 2019 Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, being held June 28-30 at the Howell High School complex, is sure to offer excitement to every member of your family! Visit michiganchallenge.com to learn about new attractions and see what the committee has planned for this year.
We’re proud to welcome pilots from around the state and the country to fly in this event, thankful for the passion and hard work of the committee, led by Rick Resinger of Champion Automotive Group, and the hundreds of volunteers who spend the weekend with us working hard to make the magic happen.

Balloonfest helps support the Howell communityNew this year, the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest is a
gated event with free parking and six admission gates for
guest entry. Admission is $5 per person per day. Children
three-years-old and under are free. The change was made
to sustain and enhance the event for future years. Parking
is sponsored by Patrick Financial Group, L.L.C.
In addition, commemorative 35th anniversary Michigan
Challenge pins are available at the Howell Area Chamber
of Commerce and at the balloonfest for $6. The colorful
design complements the 70th-anniversary branding of
the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce. It’s a keepsake
souvenir that represents community improvement, one of
the lines of business of the Howell chamber. A limited
selection of pins from previous years is available as well.
For those who like the thrill of carnival rides and the thrill of
saving money, discounted wristbands for the Wade Shows
can be ordered online in advance from the link on the
homepage of www.michiganchallenge.com
or www.wadeshows.com.

Last year, the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest
was able to donate more than $13,000 back to
the community through the event’s volunteer
parking program.
