Good news: we are currently changing paper to thick 420 gsm “stone paper”. Stone

paper is made from chalk stone. It is strong

and waterproof but has a soft and love-

ly feel with a matte finish and vibrant colors.

No trees has been cut down and no water or

bleaches has been used in the making. Stone

paper is a green alternative to regular paper.

IN 2010 Michelle Carlslund Illustra-tion was founded by 25-year-old Michelle Carlslund, a Danish Illus-trator based in Copenhagen. From her studio in the city centre she builds an illustrative universe inhabited by eclectic cities, strong men, playful puns, sad bears and proud sailors. Her expression is playful and naive. However, if you look closer, the illustrations carry meaning for both children and adults.

‘‘I often find it easier to handle the little dilemmas of everyday life if I try to look at them from above and laugh at myself. A sad bear dress-ing up and trying to fit in is a good metaphor of my state of mind on an off-day. A smile and a good portion of self-irony add some perspective. And I’d say that perspective is always a good thing.”

The illustrations of Michelle Carlslund are made in many different ways. Sometimes she cuts and glues, other times she uses ink and water color. A part of the illustrations are

made using an electronic drawing pad. the approach depends on the mood she is in. Common to all the designs is the douche color palette, the imagi-native universe and the good story.

Michelle Carlslund started her business three years ago and she has been a busy bee ever since. Besides the poster making she occasionally takes on commissions as a freelance illustrator and has done collabora-tions with companies such as Universal Music, Danish publisher Gyldendal and Vogue Japan. The re-tailer list counts more than 80 shops in 13 countries and is growing along-side with new ideas.
