Grateful Dead Concert Posters

Some of the greatest posters from the greatest band.

Formed in 1965, the Grateful Dead became a musical sensation that defined a sound, a generation and a movement.

Here are some of my favorite concert posters from their glory days.

At $2.50 you would have gotten to see the Grateful Dead, The James Cotton Chicago Blues Band, Stonely Carmichael and the Staff, Johnny Talbot & De Thangs, The Quicksilver Messenger Service and a few more at the Fillmore. This concert lasted from 3PM to Midnight(ish).

This San Francisco Show was a 2 day festival which included SteppenWolf, Staple Singers, Santana, the Grateful Dead and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. The lion’s face with the multiple images laid into it make this poster one of my favorites.

This New Years Eve show was in 1968 and was slated to go from 9PM on New Years Eve to 9AM on New Years Day.

Grateful Dead, Santana and Quicksilver Messenger Service were scheduled to play and it included Breakfast!

This show too featured the Grateful Dead, Santana and Quicksilver Messenger Service. It was at the Avalon Ballroom.
