Approaching triumph

The promise of victory

• 1 John 5:1-5• 1 Cor 15:50-55• John 8:36

So what does triumph look like?

Riding on a donkey

• A position of humility is required to inherit your victory

• Luke 14:7-14• Matthew 6:33

• The result – He was honored by many

Cleaning house

• In Jesus’ case, He needed to clean out the temple of all the ugly

• Likewise, you need to do some house cleaning…..

• James 5:16 – Confess your tresspasses• Acknowledge the struggle and pray through it• The OT example of kings

The first opposition

• Pharisees, Sadducees, Scribes, Lawyers – all tried to steal away, devalue, and deter Him from inheriting His victory

• John 10:10 – the thief comes to steal and destroy, but….

Fellowship is a well of strength

• As He neared the most difficult day of His human existence, Jesus recognized that fellowship contributed to His strength

• He washed their feet, shared insight to the next portion of His journey, and sang hymns

• He invited others to come along and pray with Him

The climax of difficulty

• When nearing a large breakthrough, many times, the greatest opposition is just prior

• In the garden, in the courts, before Pilate, He was silent

• His focus was not on temporary affliction, it was on permanent breakthrough

The final step required

Allowing His flesh to be put to death was the final, most difficult step in inheriting His

victoryHe chose to let go and breath His last, knowing

that was the only way to experience the most epic victory in the history of mankind

And the Father responded
