A Message from the President Dear Fellow CCR Members,
Fun, Food and Fellowship are still the foundations of CCR Events: Our Cruise to Captain Billy’s drew a big crowd of folks and their
Corvettes to make a long line of beauties crossing the Potomac. Thanks to Lori and Dave Dolan for organizing a super Event again.
In spite of the threat of rain a multitude of dazzling Corvettes made the trip out Route 10 to enjoy a delicious lunch at Smithfield Sta-tion. Thanks to Sue Ann and Rob Bickert for putting together an-other wonderful Event.
The Zip Customer Appreciation Day was, again, populated by a huge number of Corvette Enthusiasts showing their marvelous machines. Thanks to Zip for an-other delightful day of Fun, Food and Fellowship.
We are wrapping up the final details of planning the 2018 CCR RoundUp. If you have any thoughts on how to make it better, please let me know.
We will need lots of volunteers again, so please let me know how you can help.
We need lots of tables and sunshades for this event, so let us know if you have any of these items that we may use for the RoundUp.
And don’t forget the Silent Auction. Your donations will be greatly appreciated.
Please contact me; mail2ccr@gmail.com
Also, we are assembling an inventory of CCR property, so we will know where to find things when we need them. If you are storing something for CCR, please let Paul Murman or me know what you have so we can add it to the list.
Now let’s get out there and have more Fun, Fellowship and Food!
Cruise to Stanton and join the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28
Show your Corvette at the CCR Annual RoundUp, Saturday, June 2
And please help us fill the CCR Calendar! We would also love to hear your ideas for new Events, so talk to any Board Member and let us know how to make our club better with more CCR Events.
I hope to see all the regulars AND lots of new faces at our upcoming Events. Best Wishes and remember to Save the Wave!
Life is a highway, and I wanna drive it in my Corvette with my best friend Doris as copilot. Your CCR friend,
Bob Brody

For the 15th time since 1978, a Corvette will serve as Pace Car for 'The Great-est Spectacle in Racing'. A 2019 Corvette ZR1 will be featured in that official capacity for the 2018 Indian-apolis 500 during the race presented by PennGrade Motor Oil. Its LT5 small block 6.2L supercharged V8 engine with 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque accelerates the car from 0-60 mph in 2.85 seconds and reaches a top track speed of 212 mph. This will be the 102nd Indy 500 event and it is slated for Sunday, May 27th.
This will be the 29th time a Chevrolet has led the field since 1948 when a Fleetmaster Six convertible paced the race. Chevrolet was founded in 1911, the same year as the inaugural 500-mile race. No other vehicle has served in this position more times than the Corvette. The '19 ZR1 was on display April 19th on the front straightaway along with the other 14 Corvettes that have paced the 500. The race will be televised live on ABC, starting at 11 AM EDT with the pre-race show. Radio broadcasts will be available on Sirius 214 and XM 209 provided by Advance Auto Parts IndyCar Radio.

Information Club Radios

Club Radios
by Dave Dolan
At events, members have asked me about buying a club radio, so
here is some info.
You can start by checking online for 2-way radios. CCR club radios
broadcast on VHF 154.5700 MHz. One radio that's compatible
with this frequency is Motorola series XTM-XV2100. This Mo-
torola radio is no longer available new but can be purchased on
EBay under $100. We bought 2 of them this way a few years ago.
If you buy a radio, remember that it has to broadcast on VHF
with 154.5700 MHz. For programming your radio, we use channel
3, frequency 3.
If any of you out there want to sell your radio, mention it at a meeting or call me. If you have
more questions, call me at 804-640-9338 and I'll try to help you.

Event Re-Cap Recap of Crab Cruise to Capt.
Billy's by Lori Dolan
We arrived early and there were already about 20 Vettes waiting for
us when we pulled into staging. Even new members Robert & Judy
Anderson from Bedford (& also VA Corvette Club Members) beat us
there! Groundskeepers were getting ready to do some mowing or
weeding near one of our parking areas, but Janie Hughes got them to
hold off until we pulled out. THANKS, kiddo! Ed Custer told us he
wasn't sure if we'd have police coverage at the Bowling Green Bypass
because they got our timing mixed up. We'd have to wait and see. We
mingled, sold 50/50 raffle tickets and folks hit Burger King for food
and restrooms. Dave held the drivers' meeting and then we hit the road with 31 Vettes and 3 OTCs.
Along the way Ed radioed us that the Caroline County
Sherriff's Dept. would not only get us through the Bowling
Green Bypass, they would escort us all the way through
their county blocking stop signs and traffic lights for us.
The Sheriff's black SUV with its flashing red & blue lights
got in front of Dave’s lead Vette and a white patrol car fell
in behind our caravan. Talk about exciting! As we ap-
proached the Bowling Green Bypass, the rear patrol car
blew past us to meet a third Sheriff's car. With lights
flashing, they stopped traffic on both sides of busy Route
301 so we could get through the stop sign. That was pretty cool! Then they con-
tinued to lead us all the way to Horne's in Port Royal. That's where we picked
up 4 cars from Northern Neck Corvette Club and the escort ended.
I took pictures, but the lead car didn't photograph well and the patrol car was WAY
TOO FAST for me as he sped up from the rear to do the blocking. I hope someone
got some good pictures for our website since mine stunk!
Ed, you really were the big hero of the day and we thank you!
We were now about 20 minutes away from Capt.
Billy's. Waiting for us there were Beachcombers
Bobbi & Bill along with 4 others. We were seated
by the windows and the wait staff descended quickly taking drink and
food orders. We sold more 50/50 tickets to Beachcombers and Northern
Neck folks which brought out total collected to $240. Tickets were
pulled and Linda Tallent (guest of Kim Allen) and Jim Chesser each
took home $120. Congrats!
We were having a good time because the food was great and so was the
service. By 5:00 most folks had started for home. We stopped at Horne's for a little ice cream and still
made it home in time to watch the Richmond Race on TV.
Thank you, CCR, for making our annual Crab Cruise to Capt. Billy's a success.

Corvette in the News The 65th anniversary Corvette is a per-
formance beast for data nerds The Z06 Carbon 65 is what happens when raw
horsepower meets computing. By: Roberto Baldwin April 24, 2018
The Corvette is 65 years old. Take a moment to let that sink in. Typically, in your sixties, you slow down. You relax and if you're lucky, settle into a nice long retire-
ment. The 2018 Z06 Carbon 65 convertible is doing none of those things.
If anything, Chevrolet has produced one of the best Cor-
vettes ever. It's fast (duh), but thanks to lightweight ma-terials and an onboard data tracking system, the Vette is
ready for the new generation of drivers to take the wheel. Just be ready to drop a lot of cash. Like, all your cash.
A completely impractical sports car with a premium price tag that tracks your every move while driving. In
other words, I wish I was behind the wheel right now. But save your money and get the non-special edition ver-sion, you’ll have just as much fun.
At $111,000 the Carbon 65 special edition Corvette will
drain your savings. But if you do cash out your 401k for the special edition convertible, you'll join a special group of owners. Chevrolet is only building 650 of these, and I
got a chance to spend time in number 140. When you sit in the Z06 it's immediately apparent that
it's made for weekends at the track. With 650 horsepower and 650 pounds of torque and a zero-to-60 time of 2.9
seconds, it's unlikely you're going to get the full experi-ence of the car (unless you're cool with collecting tickets like they're Pokemon). You need a road without other
drivers and the cops. And Chevy is practically encourag-ing that with new features.

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Will Pace
This Year's Indy 500 By: Jerry Perez April 21, 2018
The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will serve as the of-
ficial pace car of the 102nd running of the Indy 500,
which will take place on May 27.
Chevrolet is one of the two engine providers of the
Verizon IndyCar series, and the stunning 2019 ZR1
represents the pinnacle of Chevrolet's road car perform-
ance division and the Corvette lineup. With 755 horse-
power and 715 pound-feet of torque, the king of the
'Vettes is the perfect machine to lead the field of milk-
thirsty racing drivers.
A total of 14 Corvettes have had the honor of pacing
the 500-mile race in years past, dating back to 1978
when a black-over-silver C2 Corvette crossed the yard
of bricks for the first time under such conditions.
“Chevrolet is proud to once again pace the Indianapolis
500,” said Steve Majoros, Marketing Director for the
brand's cars and crossovers. “The ZR1 is the most pow-
erful and fastest Corvette ever made. It’s the perfect
choice to pace ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.’”

Corvette Racing Confirms Lineup for 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans By: Caleb Jacobs April 18, 2018
Corvette Racing has confirmed a crew of familiar faces for its 2018 entry to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The
American-based crew will compete with a two-car effort that includes Mike Rockenfeller, Antonio Garcia,
and Jan Magnussen in the No. 63 C7.R along with Marcel Fassler, Oliver Gavin, and Tommy Milner in the
No. 64. Each selected driver is a multi-time winner at the historic race and will work to add on to the team's
success at this summer's June event.
This is the same lineup that entered the first two IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar races of the year at Daytona
and Sebring. In fact, five of the six drivers are returning from the outfit's 2017 Le Mans lineup with the excep-
tion of Fassler who will replace Jordan Taylor as the latter is no longer actively seeking a ride for the race.
“Corvette Racing is honored to compete for the 19th consecutive year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said
Chevrolet Director of Motorsports Competition, Mark Kent. “A consistent lineup of drivers between our
IMSA campaign and Le Mans gives us the best chance for our ninth victory."
“All six have multiple Le Mans victories. That along with the experience of the Corvette Racing crew and en-
gineering team are what we believe to be the optimum combination of talent to win again at Le Mans.”
The Corvette squad's No. 63 entry did manage to nab a podium finish at last year's race while its sister car
ended in eighth-place.

Tech Tips From routine maintenance at the service department to the occasional trip to the car wash, proper car care can help maintain the quality of your vehicle. But, what about car interior care? A little spring cleaning can go a long way! Bill Kay Corvettes knows a thing or two about maintaining a stunning vehicle, so we’re happy to share our best tips and tricks! Read on for our recommendations on car interior care.
Vacuuming Between snack wrappers and leaf debris, your car can collect a lot of dirt over the years. A thorough vacuuming can easily sweep away debris that collects in even the tiniest nooks and crannies in your cabin. Try a high-powered vacuum with a hose to maneuver over and under the seats, and swap out different attachments to get into those hard-to-reach places. Some car washes also have coin-operated vacuums for your convenience.
Cleaning Don’t forget to clean the upholstery! Look for special carpet and upholstery products that are made especially for car interiors. These solutions are formulated to effectively remove stains, dirt, and grime without ruining the finish of your upholstery. What about leather seats? Shop for a quality leather cleaner and conditioner to keep your seats flexible and soft. Additionally, there are other areas of your car that may need special attention:
• A quick scrub will remove fingerprints, smudges, and paw prints from your windows. Be sure to read the fine print on your glass cleaner if you have tinted windows, since some chemicals can break down your tint.
• Make sure that your trunk is not weighed down by loads of cargo. Not only can this affect your vehicle’s cleanliness, but this extra weight may hurt your fuel economy!
• The dashboard is easy to refresh with a sweep of a microfiber cloth. You can also look into protectants to shield your dashboard from UV and weather damage.
Organizing Is your cabin full of clutter? Now that your interior is clean, why not take the time to organize? Consider car or-ganizers that add storage space without taking up a lot of room. From visor organizers to seat organizers, these streamlined compartments provide extra space for all your vehicle’s essentials.
