Matthew 7:1–5 Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in

your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?..........

4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your

brother’s eye.

We sin even when we don’t really want to

Romans 7:15 For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.

We sin and we wonder if we really love God

John 14:15 If you love me, you will keep my commandments.

We sin, but judge the actions of others

Shame on you… keeps the blame off me!

We sin and realize we haven’t laid down our own desires, passions, and appetites

We don’t live up to other people’s standards or expectations

We sing songs and say things that are RIGHT – TRUE – BIBLICAL, but aren’t exactly how we really feel

We confuse temptation with sin

MORALITY IS NOT BASED ON LAW, BUT GRACE

2 Timothy 3:1–5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money [check], proud [yep], arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their

parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous..........

without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid

such people.

You may see yourself as a hypocrite, but you don’t have to be hypocritical

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

James 4:7–10 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you

double-minded [hypocrite]. 9 Be wretched and mourn and weep……….

Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. [stop making light of how you’re living, you’re not fooling God] 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.
