Lesson 1 Monday 1.2.21

L.O: To be able to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of mass.

Maths Meeting

1. 14 X 8 =2. What is 110 less that 304?3. Fill in the missing digits 156= _____ X 3?4. Order smallest to largest: ½ ¼ ¾ 15. Write 14 km 450 m In meters?6. 7/8 of 144 is?7. The perimeter of a square is 92 cm. What is the length of each side?8. A bag of flour weighs 3.5 kg. 750 g is needed for baking a cake. How much flour is left in the bag?

Maths Meeting

1. 14 X 8 = 1122. What is 110 less that 304? 1943. Fill in the missing digits 156= _____ X 3? 156 divided by 3 = 524. Order smallest to largest: ½ ¼ ¾ 1 ¼ ½ ¾ 15. Write 14 km 450 m In meters? 14450 m6. 7/8 of 144 is? 144 divided by 8 = 18. 18 X 7 = 126. So 7/8 of 144 is 1267. The perimeter of a square is 92 cm. What is the length of each side?A square has 4 sides. So 92cm divided by 4 = 23 cm 8. A bag of flour weighs 3.5 kg. 750 g is needed for baking a cake. How much flour is left in the bag? 3.5 kg = 3500g. So 3500 – 750 = 2750

Lesson 2 Tuesday 2.2.21

L.O: To be able to solve word problems involving multiplication of mass

Maths Meeting

1. 23 X 4 =2. What is 22 less that 91?3. Fill in the missing digits 844= ____ X 2 =4. How many centimetres are there in 3m 49 cm?5. Which is bigger 2/4 or ½ ?6. 2/3 of 114 is?7. Mr Lythgoe set his class 14 pieces of work to do. Mr Nickerson set his year 5 class 4 times more work to do. How many pieces of work do both classes have to complete altogether? 8. The perimeter of a square is 104 cm. what is the length of each side?

Maths Meeting

1. 23 X 4 = 922. What is 22 less that 91? 693. Fill in the missing digits 844= ____ X 2 = 844 ÷ 2 = 4224. How many centimetres are there in 3m 49 cm? 349 cm 5. Which is bigger 2/4 or ½ ? They are both the same as 2/4 is the same as ½ 6. 2/3 of 114 is? 767. Mr Lythgoe set his class 14 pieces of work to do. Mr Nickerson set his year 5 class 4 times more work to do. How many pieces of work do both classes have to complete altogether? 14 X 4 = 56. Then 56 + 14 = 708. The perimeter of a square is 104 cm. what is the length of each side? 104 ÷ 4 = 26. So each side of the square is 26 cm long

Explanation of Bar models

Remember to think about the total amount of units there will be in a bar model 1 suit case and 4 times as many suit cases will be 5 units in total.

Lesson 3 Wednesday 3.2.21

L.O: To be able to solve word problems involving division of mass.

Maths Meeting

1. 22 X 3 =2. What is 100 less that 945?3. Fill in the missing digits 854 = _____ - 4674. How many right angles are there in a square?5. What is 320 divided by 8? 6. 4/8 of 784?7. Which is heavier 4 Kg 50g or 4500g?8. All 5 boxes weigh 750 g? what is the weight of one box?

Maths Meeting

1. 22 X 3 = 662. What is 100 less that 945? 945 – 100 = 845 3. Fill in the missing digits 854 = _____ - 467. Do the opposite. So 854 + 467 = 13214. How many right angles are there in a square? 4 right angles 5. What is 320 divided by 8? 320 ÷ 8 = 406. 4/8 of 784? 4/8 is = to 1/2. So 784 ÷ 2 = 3927. Which is heavier 4 Kg 50g or 4500g? 4 Kg 50 g = 4050 g and that is lighter than 4500g. So 4500g is the heaviest.8. All 5 boxes weigh 750 g? what is the weight of one box? 750 ÷ 5 = 150. Each box weighs 150g

L.O: To be able to solve word problems involving division of mass.

The scales show 100g

How much cocoa powder has been used if 24 g is left?

How then could you figure out how much cocoa powder is used in each cake?

Use the bus stop method you have learned. Not the maths no problem one.

Lesson 4 Thursday 4.1.21

L.O: To be able to use knowledge of mass to solve problems.

Maths Meeting

1. 38 x 2 =2. What is 10 less that 500?3. Put these fractions in order from biggest to smallest: ½ 6/8 3/8 2/8 5/84. The total mass of John and Sophie is 184 kg. They both weight he same. How much does each person weigh individually?5. How many Kilometres and metres are there in 4567 m?6. 2/3 of 222 is?7. Tom has £28. he spends £19.50 on a game. How much money does he have left? 8. The bottle contains 1.5 Litres. Georgina used 725 ml. How much is left in the bottle?

Maths Meeting

1. 12 x 8 = 962. What is 10 less that 500? 490 3. Put these fractions in order from biggest to smallest: ½ 6/8 3/8 2/8 5/86/8 5/8 ½ 3/8 2/8 4. The total mass of John and Sophie is 184 kg. They both weight he same. How much does each person weigh individually? 184 ÷ 2 = 92. Each person weighs 92 kg 5. How many Kilometres and metres are there in 4567 m? 4 Km 467 m 6. 2/3 of 222 is? 222 ÷ 3 = 74. Then 74 X 2 = 148. So 2/3 of 222 = 1487. Tom has £28. he spends £19.50 on a game. How much money does he have left? £28.00- £19.50 = £8.508. The bottle contains 1.5 Litres. Georgina used 725 ml. How much is left in the bottle? 1.5 Litres = 1500 ml. 1500 – 725ml = 775 ml
