Aaron Evans

INTEGER

• A whole number; a number that is not a fraction. A thing complete In itself.

RATIONAL NUMBER

• Any number that can be made by dividing one integer by another. The word comes from “ratio”

SCIENTIFIC NOTATION

• Where a number is written in two parts

PERFECT SQUARE

• A number made by squaring a whole number

IRRATIONAL NUMBER

• A real number that cannot be written as a simple fraction - the decimal goes on forever without repeating.

REAL NUMBERS

• The type of number we normally use, such as 1, 15.82, -0.1, 3/4, etc…

Positive or negative, large or small, whole numbers or decimal numbers are all Real Numbers.

They are called "Real Numbers" because they are not Imaginary Numbers.

DENSITY PROPERTY

• The density property tells us that we can always find another real number that lies between any two real numbers.

ADJACENT ANGLES

• Two angles are Adjacent if they have a common side and a common vertex (corner point), and don't overlap.

COEFFICIENT

• A number used to multiply a variable

DISTANCE FORMULA

• Any algebraic expression that gives the distance between two points in a particular coordinate system in a particular number of dimensions

DOMAIN

• Domain of a relation is the set of all x-coordinates of the ordered pairs of that relation.

HYPOTENUSE

• The longest side of a right triangle, opposite the right angle.

LEGS OF A RIGHT TRIANGLE

• In a right triangle, the sides opposite to the acute angles are called the Legs of a Triangle.

RATIONAL NUMBERS

• Any number that can be made by dividing one integer by another. The word comes from "ratio".

RANGE

• The range of a set of numbers is the highest number minus the lowest number

SLOPE

• The rate of change of a line. For any two points, it is the change in the y values divided by the change in the x values, and is referred to as the change in the rise over the change in the run of a line.

SCIENTIFIC NOTATION

• Where a number is written in two parts

PRISM

• A solid geometric figure whose two end faces are similar, equal, and parallel rectilinear figures, and whose sides are parallelograms.

SCATTER PLOT

• A graph of plotted points that show the relationship between two sets of data.

SLOPE INTERCEPT FORM

• the equation of a straight line in the form y = mx + b where m is the slope of the line and b is its y-intercept
