“Serving Those Who Serve”

The Massachusetts Corps of Fire Chaplains was established in 1999.

The Chaplain

• Fire Department Chaplains are selected by Fire Department and appointed by the Chief.

• Chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support to Firefighters and their family members whenever necessary.

• This service is extended to the citizens of the Commonwealth when they become victims of fire, medical emergency or natural disaster.

We represent a wide variety of faith communities, but each Chaplain

seeks to minister to all.

• If you do not have a Chaplain, we will work with you to start a chaplaincy program.

• It is important to establish a relationship with the Chaplain before a critical need arises.

• Expectations must be discussed. SOGs should be adopted.

Working Side By Side

The Fire service seeks to protect lives and property.

The Fire Chaplain seeks to protect the emotional and spiritual health of firefighters and those affected by tragedy.

Bringing Hope Amidst Sorrow

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,Because the Lord has appointed me to bring

good tidings to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the

brokenhearted…To comfort all who mourn…To give than a garland instead of ashes, the

oil of gladness instead of mourning.Isaiah 61 selected verses
