• RTE has come into effect from 1st April, 2010. State Rules notified on 27-09-2010. Basic objectives of the RTE Act 2009 are

• Universalization of Access & Enrolment,• Retention, • Quality & Bridging of different Gender &

Social Category Gaps.

• Schemes like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) &• Kasturava Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) as

centrally sponsored schemes are being implemented in the state to cater the elementary education needs of children at elementary level.

Major Challenges

• lack of infrastructure, class rooms, computer labs

• Sanitation ,water purification, basic facilities like adequate toilets

• support service and teachers strength in most of the schools in State is not adequate

• Enrolment of students in private schools

• Provide or upgrade learning resource centers, library, laboratories, etc.

• Use of multimedia teaching aids• Improving the quality of work life of teacher • Teacher Educators and their Capacity
