Masons Lay Corner Stone forTemple at Boulder City

ApRIL 23 was.a gala day for Masonsat Boulder City, Nevada, when the cor-nerstone for the Masonic lodge was laidby grand officers atop the hill on the eastside of town.

In the evening at 8 o'clock public in-stallation of the lodge and its officers tookplace in the Six Companies' mess hall.

The local Masons were honored by thepresence of Scott E. Jameson, grand masterof the grand lodge of Masons for Nevada,and George Schwartz of Elko, grand juniorwarden, as well as many Masons fromCalifornia, Utah, Arizona and other partsof the state of Nevada.

Preceding the installation ceremonies ateight o'clock, the lodge met at the court-room in the municipal building, adjourn-ing from there immediately to the mess-hall, where the ceremony proceeded.

Visiting Masons during the morning en-joyed a trip to the dam site as guests ofthe Bureau of Reclamation, Chief RangerClaude Williams escorting them over theproject.

At noon the party gathered for luncheonat the messhall, the cornerstone layingceremony following lunch, at 2:30.

Officers installed included: Dr. WalesHaas, worshipful master; Ernest Stokes,senior warden; H. O. Wales, junior war-den; J. L. Finney, secretary; Bob Mid-daugh, treasurer; R. Brown, junior dea-con; R. L. Skinner, senior deacon, and J.Bailey, tyler.

Worshipful Master Haas was host at adinner given the grand officers at six p.m.at the Hotel Apache in Las Vegas.

The lodge" home" on the top of "Ma-sonic hill" will be built by the Masonsthemselves, and pushed to completion atthe earliest possible date.

At the cornerstone laying, WorshipfulMaster Jameson presided, with E. H.Beemer making the oration.

There was a Bible presented to theBoulder City Masons that was once usedby the Valley lodge of Masons, charteredin 1865, at Silver City. It was presentedby Amity lodge at Silver City.

The altar and stations to be installed inthe building upon completion, have allbeen made by Masons of Boulder City.
