WELCOME! Note from AlleyWoo. This has been a long process but it is finally here. Springfield Chill Wine Drink-
ers first newsletter. Or better know as, Its All About The Grapes. Yes it is. This
newsletter is will be the core of our group and the grapes for our start process for
events. My goal, vision, for this group is to grow into a national one and this newslet-
ter is one piece or the grapes of that vision.
I decided to do this newsletter as a way of keeping each and every member in
the know on the process of our group and how our group is functioning. It has been
hard at times to coordinate events and to get a feel of what our group would like to do
as a whole. I figured with this newsletter, I am able to write preview of events which
will give the members a chance to make a decision on if they will join us or just back
out. I can put out ideas for future events and see if the readers, well you, bit or just say
hell naw.
Last, this newsletter is YOUR newsletter. Ideas, pictures, events, and written
pieces are welcome. This group could not be what it is without you, the Wine-Os. And
neither this newsletter. Thank you! Now here we go! We officially launch the first
Wine-Os NEWSLETTER! YEAH (In my Kermit excited Muppet Voice)~

THATS MY BOO!-MUSIC
Like wines, music has many blends, depths, and arrangements to where you may not know what is worth listening (or like wine tast-
ing) or even buying. As and avid wine drinker and music lover, I would like to start the Alleys Music Corner. Here I will share links to
songs/videos on musicians and songs I feel should be heard. Yes, there will be some K-POP, but there will be more than just your man
ufacture, perfectly choreograph dance moves, with the heavy drowning of autotune type music. I want to give you music you may have
hear but afraid to admit you listen to it or music you may wanted to hear, but afraid to admit to your growing curiosity.
Turn to page 2 of our newsletter and I will begin your journey into the Boos world of music. Hold on tight because it maybe a long
journey. ~Allison~

As a wine drinker, I can say my
taste has evolved over the years; at my
age now, I am not one to drink, how do
you put it, wines that a 6 year old can drink
and say its just kool-aid. I drink wine
with depth, body, and taste, not a water
down version or kool-aid. With my taste in wine evolving so has my
taste in music. I have seen myself enjoying music with a darker,
deeper tune which I could honestly say, would not have listen to 10
years ago. But, on occasions I have a mind slip and forget my new
refine taste and see myself reaching in the cooler for that once ole
pleasure I use to crave, Boones Farm and this is seen in my taste in
music as well. That slip doesnt have any bad consequences, just
brings me back to the days where I was not worried about bills,
work, or anything. I was just happy and bubbly and lived life that
day for that day. Some of my music choices has reflect that same
care free attitude; hence my slight obsession with k-pop. Yes, those
who know me know my obsession knows it can be a little brain cell
killing at times, but I can tell you if you need a day to be overly hap-
py and dont give a crap because there is sunshine and rainbows
shooting out your butt, then k-pop is the way to go.
Not all K-pop is bad, there are some artist who have a deep-
er depth to their music than just the same cookie cutter overly sweet
music that has defined K-pop. But for this first music corner I want
to introduce to you the k-pop music that puts a smile on my face and
the artist you can tell, if you dig, have a deep depth to them but are
modeled into the K-pop generic brand. I also want to introduce you
to my adult self when it comes to music, the what I say deep red
cabernet style of music that I found one weekend trolling youtube.

GirlsGeneration or SNSDLet me tell you, if you are looking for a group that will
make you smile and dance this is it. Girls Generation or SNSD
have been out since 2007 and they are a group that oozes K-
pop. They are a nine member group who each have their own
personalities but I can tell you at times it is hard to tell them
apart (it could just be me). The group is made up of members:
Taeyeon, Jessca, Sunny,Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung,
Yoona & Seohyun (Jessica is Korean-American, born in CA
and moved to South Korea at age 11;Tiffany-real name is
Stephanie Hwang-is also Korean-American and was born in
CA; Sunny-Lee Soon Kyu-is also Korean-American and was
born in CA-Each can speak fluent Korean and English)
The ages are 22-23 and they are amazing. Yes, some
of their music can be candy pop but they do have vocal talent.
The one song I want to share with you is my favorite and the
dance with it is OMG! Sorry, I am excited and forgot where I
was. That song/video is I Got A Boy The link below is from
youtube and I will also post a link of a youtuber who recreated
the I Got A Boy Dance for fun. When you see her dance, the
youtuber, you may see the depth and intricate choreography
that went into this dance and song. ~Bo~

LETS GET READY TO
RUM-
BLEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Ok, that maybe a little tiny bit over dramatic but that is ho
excited I am about this event. I mean, who can say they compete
a Wine-Os wine/beer making contest??? Well, technically, anyon
who joins our group, but that is not the point. The point is this is
all out war between the reds and whites with the foamy suds we beer as the underdog. We are going to fight for the right to make
our own wine-o mixture and then bare it all to those who we deem
judges.
If you are ready to show what you are made of when it
comes to the home brewery process, then step up! Step into the
ring and get ready to fight it out. We have the best of the best and
we are not afraid to show you are cork screws. To enter just RSV
on meetup.com or the wine-os facebook page and you will receiv
an email entry form. We will also have a class to teach us the pro
cess of making your own brew. Stay tune and I would like to offic
ly lay down the gauntlet for this epic event. So epic it will make ywant to slap your mama. Well, maybe not that epic. Again the dra
matics has overwhelm me. ~Alison~

Many folk ask the question 'Why is the
Shamrock the National Flower of Ireland ?'
The reason is that St. Patrick used it to ex-
plain the Holy Trinity to the pagans.-http://

While it may come as a surprise to most,
Savannah makes it into [travel.usnews.com]

been celebrating St. Patrick's since 1813
and likes to do it big, with an attendance
exceeding 400,000. The three-hour parade

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March
17, the saint's religious feast day and the
anniversary of his death in the fifth centu-
ry.
Paint Me Green and Call Me Irish!
I do not know much about the history of St. Patricks Day or the Sain
himself so I did what most people do, Google. I found a nice and strai
to the point article on who Saint Patrick was and why he was given a
whole whoopin 24 hours to be honored. Enjoy! ~Allison~
Who is This Person We Call Saint Patrick?
Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Irela
St Patrick is credited with bringing christianity to Ireland. Most of wh
is known about him comes from his two works; the Confessio, a spirit
autobiography, and his Epistola, a denunciation of British mistreatme
of Irish christians. Saint Patrick described himself as a "most humble-
minded man, pouring forth a continuous paean of thanks to his Maker
having chosen him as the instrument whereby multitudes who had wo
shipped idols and unclean things had become the people of God."
Why Saint Patrick's Day?
Saint Patrick's Day has come to be associated with everything
Irish: anything green and gold, shamrocks and luck. Most importantly
those who celebrate its intended meaning, St. Patrick's Day is a tradi-
tional day for spiritual renewal and offering prayers for missionaries
worldwide.
So, why is it celebrated on March 17th? One theory is that tha
the day that St. Patrick died. Since the holiday began in Ireland, it is
lieved that as the Irish spread out around the world, they took with th
their history and celebrations. The biggest observance of all is, of
course, in Ireland. With the exception of restaurants and pubs, almost
businesses close on March 17th. Being a religious holiday as well, ma
Irish attend mass, where March 17th is the traditional day for offerin
prayers for missionaries worldwide before the serious celebrating be
gins.
In American cities with a large Irish population, St. Patrick's
Day is a very big deal. Big cities and small towns alike celebrate with
parades, "wearing of the green,"music and songs, Irish food and drink,
and activities for kids such as crafts, coloring and games. Some comm
nities even go so far as to dye rivers or streams green!~ Credit for thearticle is from: http://www.st-patricks-day.com/about_saintpatrick.h
