Step 1Hold the cartridge with the fill plug side facingyou. Use a spring hook to remove the tensionspring. (See Photo 1)

Step 2Using the HP2600PINREMTOOL to remove thecartridge pin. Push the HP2600PINREMTOOL inthe center of the pin and turn clockwise until thetool bores a hole and tightens onto the pin.

When tightened on the pin, you will be able toturn the pin a ¼ turn counter clockwise. Lift thepin straight out of the hole. (See Photo 2, 3, 4)

Step 6Remove PCR roller from saddle blocks. SetPCR roller aside. (See Photo 9)

Step 5Remove the drum and set aside in a light pro-tected area.

Step 7Remove the screws to the wiper blade andremove wiper blade. Clean waste toner areausing a vacuum or dry, compressed air. (See Photo 10)

Step 8Clean wiper blade with a soft dry cloth or dry,compressed air.

Apply padding powder to the blade edge andreinstall. (See Photo 11)

Step 9Clean PCR saddle blocks with cotton swaband Anhydrous Isopropyl Alcohol. Clean PCRusing a dry, soft, lint-free cloth.

NOTE: If needed, de-ionized water can beused to clean the PCR.(See Photo 12&13)

Step 3Rotate the cartridge to the gearside. Repeat Step 2 to remove thecartridge pin. Separate the cartridgesections and put aside the tonerunit. (See Photo 5&6)

NOTE: The pin damages easily. Donot use excessive pressure boringthe hole or pulling on the pin.

Step 4Remove the screws holding thedrum axial and remove drum axial.Remove screws holding white drumbearing and remove drum bearing.(See Photo 7&8)

Step 10Apply conductive grease to the black PCRsaddle block. Install PCR into saddle blocks.(See Photo 14&15)

Step 11Clean drum using soft dry cloth. Apply padding powder to the drum. (See Photo 16&17)

Photo 18Step 12Install the drum, drum axle, and drum bearing.Install screws for drum axial and bearing.Rotate drum to ensure smooth operation.Remove excess padding powder using a softdry cloth from the drum and PCR area. (See Photo 18&19)

Step 13Set aside the waste unit. Protect the drumfrom light exposure.

Step 14Starting on the toner unit, lift up onthe mag roller release handle.Remove the mag roller from the car-tridge. Use a vacuum or dry com-pressed air to remove toner. (See Photo 20&21)

Step 15Remove from the mag roller, thelatch, sleeve, spacer, drive gear.Clean with a soft dry cloth and setaside for later. (See Photo 22)

Step 19Reinstall the doctor blade. (See Photo 27)

Step 18Remove the two fill plugs and clean remainingtoner using a vacuum or dry compressed air.(See Photo 26)

Step 20Reinstall spacer, drive gear, sleeve, and magroller latch onto mag roller. Install mag rollerinto toner unit. Lock mag roller into place bypushing the latch down until it clicks intoplace. (See Photo 28&29)

Step 21Fill main toner hopper with up to 150 gramsof toner. Fill the reservoir toner hopper withthe remaining toner. Install fill plugs whentoner fill is complete on each hopper. (See Photo 30, 31, 32)

Step 16Clean the mag roller using a soft,lint-free cloth and MAGCLEANER.Set aside for later. (See Photo 23)

Step 17Remove the doctor blade. Use avacuum or dry compressed air toremove toner. Clean the doctorblade using a dry, soft, lint-free clothand set aside for later. (See Photo 24&25)

Step 23Join the toner and waste unit together. Ensurethat the waste unit spring is in alignment holein the toner unit. Install the cartridge pins intothe cartridge. Align the pin tabs to the slots inthe cartridge. Use a small blade screw driverto turn the pin to the lock position (¼ turn).(See Photo 35&36)

Step 24Hold the cartridge with the fill plugside facing you. Use a spring hookto install the tension spring into themounting holes. (See Photo 37)

Photo 33Step 22Replace the cartridge chip located on thewaste unit. Unsnap the two clips under thechip and snap into place the new chip. (See Photo 33&34)

In November of 2004, Xerox released the Phaser 4500 laserprinter. The Xerox Phaser is a 36ppm printer with a maximummonthly duty cycle of 150,000 pages.

Two cartridge capacities are available, 10K pages and 17Kpages. The only differences between the two cartridges arechips and fill weight.
