González Catán, Route 3, Km 31. Buenos Aires Province, Argentina.

“A man alone does not do, it is the community that does. We are seeking for the

community: a unique body, with a unique desire, with a unique

will, and with a unique sacrifice…”

Fragment of the speech Father Mario pronounced at the end of the 80s, at the opening ceremony of the asphalts that improved the access to the Villa Carmen neighborhood, in González Catán.

Mission: “To promote human development in González Catán through a model of charitable redistribution, excellence management, and service quality”.

The "Obra del Padre Mario" is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that, since 1968, promotes human development through different projects and services, directly and indirectly benefiting more than 32,000 people in the community of González Catán, Province of Buenos Aires.

We work on lines of action that try to cover the essential aspects that people experience throughout their lives: education, community, work, disability, third age, health and sports.

In order to guarantee the sustainability and independence of the organization, financing sources are diversified, the most important one being that which gathers the donations of individuals and companies. This aid allows us to work for “human development through the joint effort of the entire community,” as our founder desired.

Community

PADREMARIO.ORG05.

Through different proposals we seek to respond to the needs of the community.

Arts and Crafts Square (PAyO): It is a space for vocational training where young people and adults are trained and acquire the necessary skills to orient and insert themselves into the world of work. We make agreements with organizations and companies, which allow the students to conduct professional practices and achieve labor insertion.

Social Promotion and Assistance Center (CePAS): This center focuses help on the most needy families of our community. In addition, it is a local reference in the building of community alliances and state-financed social programs.

“La Huella” Educational Center: This non-formal educational space offers different activities out of school hours and also pre-Square activities, i.e. the same trade learning activities as in the PAyO, but limited to the age of the participants.

UNOxUNO and SAD Sponsorship Programs: Since 2002 we assist children and adolescents so they grow up in a healthy and improving environment, emphasizing their permanence in the formal education system. The SAD (Sostegno a Distanza) program is similar to the UNOxUNO sponsorship but differs in the origin of the sponsors, who are mostly Italian.

Third Age

We commit to a full and active old age.

08.

We consider aging as a stage in life and not as a special state in which people are different or a transformation occurs.

All the actions we develop are oriented towards the promotion of the five principles set out by the United Nations in favor of older persons: care, independence, participation, self-fulfillment and dignity.

“Nuestra Señora del Hogar” Day Center, Colonia La Toscana.Founded and inaugurated by Father Mario Pantaleo, it seeks to guarantee the proper care of the aging person.

Prevention and promotion activities of elderly care and social inclusion:

- Aquagym classes.- Well and Active Program: recreational and physicalactivity encounters.- Computer classes.- Talks on accessibility for the elderly.

Cross-generational encounters..- La Experiencia Cuenta (Experience Counts)

Program: painting, wickerwork, and fabricrecycling workshops.

PADREMARIO.ORG 13.

We conceive sports as a social and community integration tool that contributes to the comprehensive development of people. Our work philosophy bears the imprint of our founder: beyond sports performance, first, we want to form people.

“Alfredo Di Stéfano” Social Sports SchoolThe Social Sports School articulates the actions of "Obra del Padre Mario" in the sports and leisure time area with the experience of the Real Madrid Foundation in social integration through sports. The “Disability and Sports” and “Third Age and Sports” programs are under development.

Caminante Sports CenterThe various disciplines practiced at the Caminante Sports Center allow the development of physical and athletic qualities of individuals, from very early ages to the third age.
