SAMPLING is the act of collecting a portion ofmaterial for analytical purposes that accuratelyrepresents the material being sampled with respectto stated objectives. Modified from StandardMethods, 1060A (APHA and others, 2001) Correctsampling and storage are critical for accuratetesting. Sampling devices and containers must bethoroughly clean to prevent carryover fromprevious samples. Preserve the sample accordingto test-specific information about samplepreservation
INTRODUCTION
WATER SAMPLING PROTOCOL WITH ON-SITE HANDS ON
The aim of the course is to give proper sampling techniques inassessing the quality of water and treated water supplied by thesupply agency and of that at the point of use, so that samples ofboth should be taken. Samples must be taken from locations thatare representative of the water source, treatment plant, storagefacilities, distribution network, points at which water is deliveredto the consumer, and points of use. In selecting sampling points, each locality should be considered individually.
