Whenprintingoutthetemplatesbesureyourprinterissetto“actualsize.”You’llcutalongtheouterlinesandsewalongtheinnerlines.Cuteverythingout.

Placethehairontheface.Pin.Sewalonghairline.(Ifyou’dliketoembroiderthefacebeforestuffing,doitnow.IprefertoembroiderafterwardssothatIcanseethewholedollfirst.)

Placethefaceonthedress,rightsidestogether,matchingupthemarkings.Pin.Stitchacross,attachingthefacetothedress.Placethefeltbackofheadontheotherdresspiece,rightsidestogether,andstitchacrossinthesameway.Presstheseamsopen.

Matchtwolegpiecesrightsidestogetherandstitcharound,leavingtheopeningasmarked.Repeatwiththeothertwolegpieces.Matchtwoarmpiecesrightsidestogetherandstitcharound,leavingtheopeningasmarked.Repeatwiththeothertwoarmpieces.

Cliptheseamallowancesaroundthecurvesonthearmsandlegsandturnthearmsandlegsrightsideout.Press.Stuffthelimbs,stuffingfirmlyatthetipandthenonlyverylightly,leavingthelast3/4inchunstuffedoneach.

Placethearmsonthefrontofthedoll,asmarked.Baste.Placethelegsonthefrontofthedollasmarked.(Notethatthelegsareplacedstraightupanddownwhichmeansthatabitofthelegfabrichangsofftheedgeofthedress.)Baste.

Placethedollfrontonthedollbackandpinaroundthesidesandtop.Leavingthelegshangingoutfornow,stitcharoundthesidesandtopofthedoll,beginningatonebottomcornerofthedress,goinguparoundthehead,andcomingbackdownattheothercornerofthedress,leavingtheopeningasmarked.(Therawedgesofthearmswillbesewnintotheseams.)

Nowpushthearmsupintotheheadtokeepthemoutoftheway.Pushthelegsintothebody.Stitchacrossthebottomofthedress.(Therawedgesofthelegswillbesewnintotheseams.)

Cliptheseamallowanceatthecurves,especiallyattheneck.Turnthedollrightsideoutthroughtheopeninginthedress.Stuffthedollfirmly,beginningwiththehead.Closetheopeningwithladderstitch.

Toembroidertheface,threadanembroideryneedlewith3strandsfromalengthof6-plyfloss.Tieaknotintheend.Inserttheneedlethroughtheseambetweenthefrontandbackofthehead,comingupatoneeyelash.Pullontheflosstopoptheknotinsidethedoll.Maketwostraightstitchesforeyelashes.Foropeneyesusesatinstitchandbackstitchthenoseandmouth.Forclosedeyesusebackstitchfortheeyesandmouth.

EmbellishyourJosephineDollanywayyoulike.Iattachedwoolballsforhairandrandombuttonsonthedress.Ifyou’dlike,dipyourfingerinlipstick,blotonatissue,thenrubincirclesonthefacetomakeblushedcheeks.
