SYSTEMS ENGINEERED TO PERFORM™
The M4U-20A sets new standards for rugged militarackmount systems. The chassis is designed for hig
shock / high vibration environments such asvehicular mount, aircraft mount or transit case
installation. The short depth of 20 inches allows it tfit virtually all transit cases. The rugged constructio
will assure its reliable operation in that challengingenvironment.

The system meets the Shock and Vibra-
tion Tests performed on 9N206-1 cabi-nets (DRS), compliance with MIL-STD-
167-1 vibration in each of the (3) majoraxes, and the requirements of MIL-S-901D for (9) nine blow, medium weight,
Grade B, Class II, Type A shock test( Test Conducted at NU Laboratories in
Annadale , NJ January 27, 2004, March
31, 2004, May 3-4, 2004 and June 22,2004. Test Report 9800.7.
Primary construction is from highstrength .060 aluminum alloy. A door
covers the drives and air inlet. The frontdoor provides an EMI / environmental
gasket, honeycomb EMI filter and twocaptive fasteners on the door to secure
the system from contamination. The lidis secured with a number of screws for a
tight seal. The overall effect is a very ro-bust enclosure to protect the system in
any foreseeable environment.
Cooling is provided by one 120mm hotswap fan providing 158CFM of high pres-
sure air flow.
The chassis is provided with three hori-zontal 5-1/4" drive bays and one verti-cally mounted 5-1/4" bay. A wide variety
of removable drive sleds and other
drives can be installed into these posi-tions in integrated systems.

NEXT GENERATION SOLUTION
System controls are mounted behind the
front door and include power control, sys-tem reset, and alarm reset. Indictors for
power and power supply failure are pro-vided and are visible through the frontdoor.
The M4U-20A is optimized for installation of
a passive backplane and Single Board Com-
puter. This configuration fits the mission re-quirements for quick access to boards for
system repair and upgrade. A wide varietyof active backplanes provides PICMG 1.0and 1.3 compatibility for virtually any slot
mix required by the plug-in cards includingPCI-Express X1 through X16, PCI-X, PCI
and even ISA. A hold-down bar provides forsecuring the cards for any adverse shock
and vibration environment.
An optional configuration allows for mount-ing an ATX motherboard when advanta-
geous to the mission.
A redundant 4U PS/2 style power supply istypically included though other power sup-
ply options are available including DC input.A Mil Std 704 or 1275 compliant supply is
available for military airborne or ground in-stallations.
The chassis provides a rear mounted
ground stud and low smoke / zero halogenwiring is available for military compliance.
Please Note - The M4U-20A is a semi-custom COTS Plus solution. Chassis fea-
tures and construction are tuned to exactlymatch the intended application and environ-
mental requirements. As such, this is not anoff-the-shelf item. Samples are available for
evaluation.
