THE PACESETTER: Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. is the largest insurance brokerage firm ranked by 2013 L.A. County revenue, surpassing Aon for the top spot on this year’s list. The company reported $187 million in revenue last year, up from $101 million in 2012. Premiums written in L.A. County nearly doubled from $836 million in 2012 to $1.6 billion last year. Part of that increase is due to its acquisition of Chapman Insurance in 2012. Chapman’s Pasadena office had 50 property and casualty professionals. Arthur J. Gallagher has 728 brokerage employees working in its five local offices.

ACQUISITION: Hub International acquired GNW-Evergreen Insurance Services in January. GNW-Evergreen’s two offices in Encino and Nashville became new offices for Hub and GNW-Evergreen President Andrew Forchelli became senior executive vice president for Hub. Terms were not disclosed.
